...........I was thinking about coming out to Ennis this year for the drag races, I was wondering if you can tell me the closest(sp) airport that carries southwest and how far is the airport from the dragstrip, also the names of some hotels that you recommend and most of all maybe me, you, deb and Kelly R can meet each other at a Mater meeting, anyhow any info will help. Thank you very much

Steve, Love field in Dallas is the only local SW carrier. I've always stayed in Duncanville which is about 35 mi. from the track. There are places closer, but they are much more expensive and further from DFW.

Steve, like Joe said Love Field is the best to fly in and out of. Your still a little ways from Ennis but thats the closest airport and also like Joe said, the hotels out a little ways are always cheaper. And here's my Ennis advice for seats, dont pay for any. The best seats in the house are free, there the sportsman seats down right at the finish line on the pit side. First come first serve.

Hey Thanks Joe, I will be staying in Duncanville then, which hotel do you suggest.

....Thanks for the heads up Justin, but I don't move as fast as I used to  and I bet you have to get there very early or haul a$$ to get a good seat.

Steve, we did Ennis last year and stayed at the new Hampton Inn in Waxahachie which was close to the track (maybe a 15-20 minute drive) for relatively cheap ($80 a night I think). Do yourself a favor...skip Ennis and do Vegas 2. The track is in the middle of nowhere and I wasn`t impressed at all with performances.

Actually no really, its mostly sportsman people who sit there and they go in and out throughtout the day. I know we always try to get to the top left end of them and we normally can get it 90 percent of the time. All the seats in that section I think are good though. As for Chris' post, Dallas isint the most beautiful track or anything. Performances are normally pretty decent there except Pro Stock cars. The fuel cars always run pretty good there but this year for some reason it wasnt really that fast. I think b/c the weather keep changing a bunch.

Chris, the reason the performance's were off so much was because it was fricken Saudi Arabia there last year! Outside of that 30 minute shower on Saturday it was a Furnace, there isn't a track in the country that will knock them over in that heat! I saw the first 290 MPH FC run there in '91(Jim White) Cory Mac ran the First 320 Pass there in '97. I think moving the race to Sept. was a mistake, so do a lot of other people.

I second the motion... all those in favor say, "Aye"!

While you're at it please move the Oklahoma D4 race back to October as well, preferably the week before Ennis!

Where is Kelly?

..........I was thinking the same thing :(

.....btw, is it the heat everyone is concerned about as far as the moving of the date of the Ennis meet, and if that is the case I wont be there, I work in the heat all day long and I sure as hell aint going to spend all that money to go to Texas to sit in the BIG heat

Hi y'all....sounds like everyone covered the 'high' points of Ennis. ;)

Steve, we'd love to see you there. Who knows about the weather....it might be pleasant. You never know. :D
