Reminds me of TNN several years ago. Man they had it going on. STRONG ties with both nascar when it was at it's heights, and the country music industry all at the same time. With a fair amount of drag racing thrown in to boot. Then, somebody decide that wasn't good enough, and here comes the BS programming. Now, TNN as a network does not even exist. STOOPID. Looks like the Speed Channel is going to follow the same fate. Seems like when it changed fron Speed Vision to the Speed Channel, it started a downhill slide that's never stopped. MJ

I don't have a TV so, I wouldn't know! That's time and cable money I'd spend that the funny car wouldn't get! Everyone else is weird, right? :D

For those that love F1 like I do ... the contracts are not signed and Speed is the only channel that makes sense. This could be the year that we get no F1 on TV in the US.

well they've signed last minute before...let's hope they do it again

I used to love the offseason on Speed ... they would show replays of all the FIA GT, British Touring Cars (BTCC), German Touring Cars (DTM), Porsche Super Cup, Australian V8 Supercars from the past season. This year, I only saw the Porsche Super Cup races. I really miss the DTM, I love the Audis versus the Mercedes and the drivers are all top shelf (Mika Hakkinen, Heinz Harald Frentzen, Jean Alesi, Tom Kristensen, Rinaldo Capello, Christian Abt and the master himself Bernd Schneider) and all the tracks are fantastic drivers circuits (Nurburgring, Zandvoort, A1 ring and Hockenheim).

Remember the old ESPN days, when racing was a huge part of their programming.

It was nothing to go from watching Group C racing to drag racing in 1 hour.

I spent many a Sunday afternoon when I was a kid watching TNN American Sports Calvalcade HOPING that it was going to be the Cajun Nationals or the Gator Nationals or some other Nationals with Dave Mac and the late, great Steve Evans telling the tale. It was usually sippie hole racing or tractor pulling but when it was a National event, it made my whole week.

I also remember watching the NASCAR races on TNN ... twas the first time I was subjected to Eli Gold ... the poor man's Paul Page ... and that is NOT a compliment.

During yesterday's USF1 announcement, Varsha said that Speed will have coverage of the 2009 F1 season ... and that Windsor will still be doing the pit lane reporting for Speed in '09 as he assembles USF1 to take to the track in '10.
