We would love to see Northwent Maters at the Winter Rod and Speed Show, January 5th.

240 Gordie Bonin the former FIA Top Fuel Dragster World Champion and past NHRA US Nationals Funny Car Champ will be at the event which benefits the Children’s Cancer Association. Gordie is best known as the driver of the Bubble Up Pacemaker Funny car as well as the Hawaiian and Smokin Joes car.

The event returns to the Linn County Fair and Expo Center in Albany, Oregon on Saturday, January 5th. Over 100 street rods, hot rods, custom trucks and race cars are expected for this year's show.

High profile cars making their Winter Rod and Speed Show debut include Salem Oregon's own Lee Smith and his new 1967 Pro Mod Mustang, Darin Bay’s 300 MPH Warped Speed Jet Funny Car, the Bad Medicine Cuda funny car and both the Legends and Patriot AA Super Charged Gassers. Coming back this year is Tow Mater plus Lightning McQueen for the kids, Chris Marshall's Disturbed Blown Alcohol Fiat and of course the Capitol Auto Group Dragster.

Also signing autographs at the show is former NBA Pacers and OSU standout Scott Haskin along with several other former NBA stars. The show also includes Reptile Man's exotic reptile exhibit (just $2.00 with your show admission), a model car contest and builder’s expo with nationally known model car expert Ed January, a pinstriping exhibition, free slot car track competition and the Oregon Ducks NASCAR Simulator. In addition, there will be live music by Apollo Four.

Garrett Bateman's A/FUEL dragster has been added to the list. The show is officially full and we will have the largest collection 6 second + race cars in the Northwest. That's why it's also a SPEED show!

240 was the only driver to win 3 national events in 1979. The US Nationals, the World Finals and Gatornationals!

Pacemaker/Bubble-Up team ran on a shoestring budget too. I like how Jerry Verhuel says in the Finals video going into the final, that they have the same set of pistons in the motor that they had from Indy! He and Gordie were a great team.
