Greg Stanfield took advantage of Friday’s cooler qualifying conditions to register his best elapsed time and it put him in the ninth starting slot for Sunday’s AAA Texas Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex.
His quarter-mile time in the Nitro Fish/Coffman Tank Trucks Pro Stock GXP was 6.595 seconds at 209.30 mph. Stanfield added a 6.599 time in Saturday’s second session.
“We are working on our plan for Sunday’s eliminations,” said crew chief Eddie Guarnaccia. “We continue to try different things and we have found some that are helping us.
“Sunday’s first round should be a little better, but then it will get hot again. It was 93 degrees later in the day here and the forecast calls for a high of 96 Sunday.”
Stanfield squares off against V. Gaines (No. 8, 6.590 at 210.01) to open Pro Stock eliminations.
