Should be over 16 cars in the Hemi Shootout!

Actually 1 pulled from P/S and 1 pulled from P/M but it's back up to 31.

Kinda funny how people were complaining about "Big Chief" Just taking a valuable spot but the field isn't filled in P/M.
They still have til the end of the day West Coast time today to get their entry in.

Need to be realistic about the times we live in Mark. It's all about money. It just takes sooo much to run just about any class these days, especially at a marathon like Indy. I'm just excited that there are more than full fields in all the classes.

21 Hemi cars entered as of today.

Good news is that at least Indy Pro qualifying will truly mean something. There will be multiple DNQ's in all 4 Pro categories. "A Game" required.

Not to mention the incredible Alcohol fields. Imagine 6-8 non qualifiers there. Gonna be a few disappointed folks in those ranks.

I don't dispute that. Just merely making an observation how times have changed so much, and not always for the better. It's crazy to think that was 20 years ago already (my first trip to Indy).

Well monetarily speaking, they have not changed for the better, that's for sure. I was at the last, or second to last, 32 car TF field in '79. the Silver Anniversary Nationals. I don't remember how many, but there were MANY TF cars that didn't make the cut, and I was with one of them. I got to with a friend of ours who was trying his hand at TF, it was a great experience, and a great way to end the summer before starting school. On a positive note, we have a ton of Pro Mods, almost enough for two fields, and these are serious, high dollar cars. I think that the TV deal is already helping to get more companies looking at us again, and if the qualifying and early round money would improve at all, I think you'd see the part time teams add more events to their schedules.

Just looked..P/M just filled the 34 car field.. Still have a little bit of time for the deadline to enter in the other classes.

Looked like a 80% chance of rain on Wednesday, but the rest of the week looks great. Moderate temperatures untilSunday/Monday.

Surprised that the NHRA didn't catch this error for Friday. No room in the budget for proofreader.

thanks for that schedule mark.....how cool, factory stock R1 on sun. afternoon, R2 & final highlighted on monday. i hope a lot of fans stick around to watch those rounds.....it amazes me how big this race still is with the expanded fields and amount of classes and specialty races contested.

friday schedule shows hemi shootout rounds 1 thru 4, then the final (5 rounds)
are they running a 32 car field?

stock class on thursday, super stock class on friday

I'm not sure if they have 32 cars in the Hemi shootout, but I believe it's more than 16. Jim Bowen posted above there's 21 entries as of the other day. I'm guessing every Hemi entrant runs for the shootout(?) necessitating 5 rounds.

that makes sense, thanks mark.....now here's a question; a while back, mite have been englishtown or gainesville when they ran
factory stock.....i asked on here about the actual stock elim. field vs. the factory stock field of 8......alan r. cleared it up and said
if you have a factory stock stock elim. car and you are one of the fast 8, you run the shootout, if you're not you continue
on in stock elim. (i don't believe there can be a double up winning both the shootout and stock)

now with the hemi cars, the question is......can a hemi shootout car double up this weekend by winning shootout and super stock?

Are you asking if there's a bonus? I don't think so, but you can certainly run both the shootout and SS eliminator.

Not a bonus but you can win both. The hemi shootout is basically the class eliminator for that class. It just happens to be a badass class

I would go with Joe Tueton or Bucky Hess(with Jason Line horsepower). They both have the horsepower to win the shootout and can bracket race with the best to win superstock.
