why run today if you didn't have to? tomorrow will be much cooler, track temp for rd 3 today was 121+, weird that weather guys were still calling for rain today, which would have held attendance down...

whatever, audiocast was fine today, listened yesterday and today, Tommy and Melanie were both good...

Joe, today was a crapshoot with not the best conditions, but hey if there were fewer fans, then it might have been easier to get around in Bristol. The place is tight as far as space for the racers to pit. I'm sure you would be bummed not having Top Alcohol FC and Dragster as well as not having Pro Stock Motorcyles. (yeah right!) The weather was predicted to be iffy so maybe a bunch of people stayed home, and possibly a lot of fans decided to go to the NASCAR All Star race in Charlotte instead. Bruton should know better than to schedule races at two of his own tracks in such close proximity.

THat is NASCAR territory..but.. they usualy go to the drag races also....but .. if you are on the same weekend as the ALL-Star race in Concord you have to wonder how many went to that or stayed home to watch....

Got a friend that lives 15 mins from the track in Bristol.... he usualy goes to both the All-Star and the drags..but he and his faimly chose to go to the All-Star event ....today.... maybe to the strip tomorrow he said...

I've noticed with Friday night qualifying, Sat's sessions usually are a BORE! Unless you get some big names that struggle on Friday!

I went to Bristol for Friday only and ended up staying and watching all three days. Typical Bristol track, it will hold low et with one pair and two pairs later everyone is smoking the tires, and then back to low ets.

Lots of seats on the premises, many were empty but there were a lot of people lining the fences where they could. Many people watch from their motor homes that are parked on the hills and have a view of the track.

The place is clean (they even have personnel going around sweeping up the cigarette butts), spacious, with friendly personnel. I got to watch 3 rounds from Bruton's suite and that was great.

Looked to me like Round 1 of fuel might have been pretty ugly too. Seems like a lot of carnage with every pair. Don't know, I wasn't there ... but I bet the fans that were there got to see a bunch of cleaning and down time. I think one of the drivers even commented during his top end interview.

I wouldn't be so quick with that demographic analysis. I lived in that area until recently. Counting Bristol (which has weekly bracket races) there are six dragstrips within a two hour drive that I know of. Try again.

Ron I don't think I've seen a good crowd there once! I think the Crappy weather has more to do with it than anything! Just about every year they lose at least one day to weather, just like Maple grove before they moved it.

I was at Topeka Friday for Qualifying, and the place was nearly full for both the afternoon and the night pro qualifying. I'm guessing about 90% or better counting all the railbirds at the fences. Now, I'm curious, considering how empty Bristol looked on tv and in the pics I saw, about relative seating capacities. My guess is Bristol will seat quite a few more than HPT, and that may be why the crowd looked so much better at Topeka, but I really have no idea. The crowd did look good Friday, and it appeared to be really good Sunday on tv also. Anyone have any comments on my conjectures?

I noticed the last couple of years at G-ville they now have a crew on hand everyday for clean up. That has made a huge difference. Another thing I noticed is the restrooms and water don't have that nasty smell!!!!! They must have discovered Rainsoft!!!!!!!!
