The 2012 GSA Pro Mod season is finally starting up!

The turbo cars will be running spec turbo's from Precision Turbo that can't be modified and enhanced in any way. This is a big change from previous years when they were highly-tuned and customized. They also suffered a weight gain of 125lbs, if I remember correctly.

Steve Petty, who tuned R2B2 to all of their monster wins, is now tuning for Troy Coughlin at Team JEGS. Bad Brad Brand has stepped-in at R2B2 making this weekend quite interesting. This will be a big story to watch unfold.

Leah Pruett will be driving the 'Mustang Sally' '12 Mustang while Burgess will be driving the 'Blue Streak' '68 Firebird.

Mike Castellana will be debuting his 2012 Al-Anabi RJ Camaro at Gainesville. With 2011 champion KA Balooshi now driving in the Top Fuel class, you've got to think that Mike will be the toughest nitrous car on the grounds.

Danny Rowe, who has played bridesmaid in the champioship for the last two seasons, will surely be fired-up and ready to make every round count in his bid to finally get over the hump and claim a championship.

Which drivers are you excited to see?

Who is your pick to win?

Wow! Thanks for the update, Bernie. Should be exciting at Gainesville. Hard to bet against a Petty/Coughlin combo, but I bet youre right about Castellana flying.

I heard that Burgess wadded his car up testing earlier this week. Doubt we will see him behind the wheel at the Gators.

Personally, I think it is time he stepped out of the seat. I'm not having a dig, he's done a lot for the PM series, but it is only a matter of time before he seriously hurts himself, or even worse someone else. I wonder if he blamed the tracks again this week?

As for Troy in the Jegs car, he might be the hot pick of the bunch. He laid down a very impressive time a month ago in testing.

Mike.

Tranny broke ... dumped fluid under one of the rear tires and then he was along for the ride. Coulda happened to anyone. By the same token, I get what you are saying ... I think that is 4 in the last year that he has wrecked.

I think he and Chip King are neck in neck in cars destroyed!

Mike Castellana with a huge run to lead the pack by almost a tenth.

Leah's car ran very strong and smooth and was #1 until Mike ran.

Roger said in an interview that the added weight and spec turbos cost them a tenth. Looks like he's right on with that number.

ET, not speed.

We'll see more in Q2 but if Mike still has a tenth on the field, then I'm agreeing with Roger.

Heard Mike Janis crashed....anybody have any info?

Here's Mark Rebilas' photo of the car from Facebook:

Don't like to see that...Hope he is okay.

EDIT: word from NHRA.com is he is okay.

Mike Castellana is top dog, yet again.

Troy Coughlin had a massive wheelstand and Leah Pruett slowed and didn't make a full-run.

Danny Rowe made a good run and will definitely be part of the discussion when E1 happens in a couple of hours.

I'll post the results as soon as they're up.
