Pro Mod teams prepare for Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge Opener in Gainesvill (1 Viewer)

DULUTH, Georgia -- On the heels of the announcement of a three-year deal for the fan-favorite Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge presented by ProCare Rx NHRA exhibition class, competitors have flocked to join the series and compete for a share of more than $350,000 in prize-money. With just two weeks before the cars hit the quarter-mile, the field is nearly full for the season-opening event March 13-15 at the ACDelco NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla.

Competitors already accepting invitations include past world champions Jay Payne and Shannon Jenkins along with: Burton Auxier, Joe Baker, Roger Burgess, Mike Castellana, Raymond Commisso, Tommy Grey, Chip King, Mike Knowles, Harold Laird, George Landis, Taylor Lastor, Brad Personett, Danny Rowe, Rickey Smith, Rick Stivers, Al Suggs and Tim Tindle.

Series administrator, Matthew Brammer, said, "The response has been great, and with only 24 spots available at each race, drivers have been motivated to move quickly to assure a place to race.

"Thanks to Roger Burgess and Get Screened America, we can all now make long-term plans, and I think that has opened up a lot more drivers to the option of including us in their schedules," he said.

Series sponsor, Get Screened America, is a healthcare screening/testing, education and awareness program designed to de-mystify the screening process and promote the importance of testing for disease states that can be so easily cured or treated if diagnosed in the early stages.

Roger Burgess said, "At ProCare Rx, I work with healthcare issues every day, and see the devastating results of diseases that go un-diagnosed. So much can be avoided with just some simple tests and education, and Get Screened America is a way to help our friends and fans in the drag racing world. We love the NHRA and Pro Mod racing and we felt it was a great place to launch our program."

The 2009 schedule includes stops at Gainesville; Houston; St. Louis; Bristol, Tenn.; Topeka, Kan.; Englishtown, N.J.; Indianapolis; Charlotte; Richmond, Va. and Las Vegas. Series rules will remain consistent with 2008 with the exception that turbo-powered cars minimum weight will be consistent with super-charged cars at 2650 lbs. Nitrous-assisted entries will remain at 2,425 lbs.

Event champions will be awarded $10,000, runners-up $5,000, Semi-finalists $2,000, quarter-finalists $1,500 and first-round $1,000. Each driver will pay a $1,000 entry fee and will receive five full-event team credentials plus one for the driver along with one competitor parking pass, one red-key parking pass, and at select events, six Pro Mod Hospitality passes.

Brammer said, "We've got a great package for the teams and drivers, and we're working on ways to add value for them and their sponsors. Being at NHRA is a great platform, and I'm working to continue to build on the past successes."

Drivers interested in receiving an invitation to Gainesville or any of the other events on the tour should contact Brammer as quickly as possible at: [email protected].
