After reading this, I really hope Bob stays out there. I know he's over the driving thing, but we need him out there as a team owner. I've always been a fan, he has really been successful at approaching drag racing as a business endeavor, which we all know is not easy. Maybe he feels it's just become too much of an uphill battle. I think Bob is a forward thinker and we need him and more like him out there.

One of two options I believe.

1. Dixon in the seat. One car.
2. Someone else brings money & a sponsor, or BVR closes shop.

article a few weeks ago even s. torrance was commenting on the high cost of doing this.....this is not just bvr.

I really dont like seeing articles like this, but unfortunately it is a feeling I'm sure is shared with a lot of racers out there.
Think about how many teams would be parked without the little assistance they get now.

IMO:
1) Beckman
2) Massey
3) Hagan
4) Both Pedregons
5) Vandergriff (self explained)

The list could go on. NHRA needs to be proactive here and set themselves up for a prosperous future....not a complete failure.

1) Mandate cost saving rules, that will also not force teams to go broke to abide by them (tire size, downforce, etc)
2) Scale the season back to 16-18 races
3) Go back to a geographicly friendly travel schedule (like they used to have)
4) 4 race swings need to go away. Give the teams time to refresh.

I dont think any of these options would take a lot to implement and would hardly cost the teams much $$$

PJ thanks for posting the link, I kind of left out the important part when starting the thread!

Bob is hardly talking about dollars, he just seems over driving period at the moment! And hasn't decided what his teams plans will be for next season, he may not even vacate the seat!! But if you want to point out where Bob directs this all to a financial issue I would love to see it. Why is it that a thread for the 10000000 time turns to a money factor and time for changing the rules etc... How many threads are there of these already? I do agree though Peter, the 4 race swings need to be done with and bringing the National Event totals to 18 would benefit the sport greatly.

well there is a former TF sponsor who will be backing the #1 points PS effort from dallas on.

I am hoping it is Kurt. He has a relationship with Vandergriff's and Hedman. From earlier this year... “We’ve had a long-running relationship with the Vandergriff family,” said Johnson.

Dave Connelly. RT king headed for Nitro!!

I agree these swings are too expensive for low budget teams.
Remember when the Pro cars ran at Divisional races, and we had only a handful of National events? The stands was always packed. We had many cars showing trying to make the show. And all teams did match racing.
This is what built the NHRA, maybe it's time to go back to that format, atleast try it for a few years.

I'm just going to leave this over here....
