Frank LeSueur, one of the East Coast's true pioneers of our sport is gravely ill. Frank has been fighting cancer for the past several years and is currently under the care of hospice.

Frank ran the NHRA Funny Car circuit in '68 and '69 in Division One and Two and also was the circuit coordinator for the NHRA Pro Stock Circuit in '70 - '73.

He went on to found World Wide Racing Fuels that supplied NHRA with nitro and alcohol fuel at the NHRA National events for many years. Frank was very dedicated and loyal to NHRA Division One and served a multitude of drag strips by booking match races all over the Eastern seaboard. He was also responsible for importing the Chinese Nitro that made the cost drop drastically so the funny car drivers could afford it. Everyone was running on their own dime back then.

In 2006, Frank was inducted into the Legion of Honor which is associated with the Musclecar Madness event in York Pa

Please keep Frank and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

I'm sorry to share this news, but Frank passed away at 2am this morning.

Arrangements are pending.

I will post them when they are available.

Dale Pulde wrote this about Frank and his contributions to drag racing

For those of you on this site who never had the chance to tour or run the east coast or the south, you may not have met Frank LeSueur. Frank was a booking agent who most of the tracks would use if they wanted to put a good show together or if they wanted to make sure they could get the good cars. He was a big man with a deep Virginia drawl, hard to get to know but under the hard exterior was a man with a passion for what he did and the ones he did it for.

In the late 70s Nitro became more expensive ....$1500.00 to near $1800.00 a drum. That made the tracks have to pay the racers more money. (imagine that) The fuel was where ever you could find it. Frank LeSueur, being in fuel sales, watched this go on for some time with no end in sight for the rising costs. It was Frank who made the effort to import the fuel from China. Frank and his son Steve ran World Wide Racing Fuel for several years. The 1st Chinese Nitro had some draw backs that were soon taken care of. If it were not for Frank and his son Steve, Nitro would have seen well over $2,000.00 and there would be no one who could afford to run it, other than Pros with a big sponsor.

Frank retired to stay on in Virginia and fish.

For all of us who run Nitro, sell it and love what it does for our self satisfaction, please keep Frank's family in your prayers. This is a man that never got credit for trying to save our sport.

Thanks DP
