It can happen. Drag racing CAN become a full contact sport at times.

A co-worker pranged his cherry '64 Plymouth Sattelite off of an ARMCO guardrail at Cedar Falls Raceway in Iowa at the end of the '11 season last year.

yeah, I saw that one as well. Boy, there was all sorts of stuff flying around wasn't there. Was that a fire extinguisher I saw flying around at the initial hit?

Could he stay in it any longer? The car was turned almost 90 degrees before he finally lifted!

Ya know, when you set the car on the rear bumper, and you come down and you're way out of the racing grove, you might think about getting out of the throttle.

Once you hit the wall, it's WAY too late.

If you spend any amount of time watching the countless drag racing "crash videos" on YouTube, you quickly begin to recognize that about 90% of them could have been avoided if the driver had checked his macho pants at the door before strapping on his seatbelt and starting the motor.

Yes, sometimes you can gently steer it back into the grove, but most times it's best to just get out of the throttle and save someone the trouble of videotaping your crash and showing it on YouTube.
