No worries, my brutha'! If we can't be as fast as you, we're going to be spectacular!!! LMAO!!!

EDB told me I needed to contact David Hough, and that Rapid would know how to get a hold of him. That being said, Rapid, or anyone else who knows how to get a hold of this fellow, please PM me with your contact information!

Get a hold of Mitch King. He did one in May at our OFAA event. You can see the video on our web page ofaa.net it is on the front page.

Sean,
I would be happy to discuss Fire Burnouts with you, I've done at least 3 dozen of them. But, be forewarned, NHRA frowns greatly on this activity. I got a stern warning for the second to last one we did and a threat of suspending our drivers license for the last one even though I told them it was an accident???? You may get away with it if there isn't photographic proof, which is near impossible with cell phone cameras today.

Yeah, I have since learned that they are outlawed at all NHRA tracks, but what's the story with IHRA sanctioned facilities? Either way, I still want to talk to you about what's involved, so PM me with your number and I'll call you on my dime.

BTW, how the hell did you get away with the "accident" claim?! LMAO!!!

Thanks,

Sean D

Rod Hynes has did quite a few Fire Burnouts. He says that the guys didn't really need to use the whole gallon of gas though. When he hit the throttle the engine coughed, because there was no oxygen for the engine. I will see if i can get him to post here.

Sean,
We really didn't get away with it. I told them that we were doing a VHT burnout and the VHT jug caught on fire from the headers, which was dropped and started the VHT on the ground on fire. They said "Yeah right", one more accident and and we'll suspend your license.

Man, that's hilarious! LMAO!!!

I'll be in touch soon.

Just got off the phone with Dave. We had a real nice conversation about the topic at hand. Thanks Dave for taking the time.

Besides the hurdle of the fuddy-duddies at NHRA "frowning" upon the practice, Dave pointed out another potential safety issue with our car in particular, in that it has no actual body. The fact that the entire tire is exposed could give up a little too much control of where the VHT/gasoline combo gets thrown, i.e., inside the cockpit on top of yours truly. That alone may make it a little too dangerous to try. Even so.............................:D

What is even more ironic is right before I called Dave, I linked to an article by Phil Burgess on NHRA.com from a thread in the NHRA section here on the 'Mater and among the many great pictures was a picture of him in the Nanook doing what else? A fire burnout! Awesome!

I don't give a damn. I hope I get to do one someday!

how about a driver that had his top fueler die right when he the crew threw the match. I can tell you the track, you can guess the driver.

let's not forget a car owner that forgot to let the driver in a red white and blue cuda flopper know the vht/gas was lit during a photo shoot...

oh yeah, those were the days
