About the cost of killing inmates, there's no way it cost more to off some scumbag that doesnt deserve to live to begin with than it would to house and feed them for 50 years or so.* And we shouldnt have people on death row for 12 years before we kill them either.* You got 2 years max to make your rebuttal case or whatever and thats it.* If you plead guilty then we do it in 6 months.* Yeah, I wanna put in an express lane to lethal injection.* Happy injection $)U)#@)!!!!!

Amen to that!!! California has a guy ready to go, all appeals have been lost, he was very close in 2006 when they halted all executions. It's time to get the show going.

Well, the reason it takes so long for someone's death sentence to be carried out is that they have to go through a huge amount of testing before they are executed. Basically, they have to make sure they are sane enough to be executed.

The District Attorney's in the case I was involved in said it would probably be around 10-14 years before she ever got started making her way to the execution chamber. The women on death row spend a lot more time there than the men.

I have to say that we (the jurors) did not give her the death penalty, the State of Texas did. There are 3 special questions that have to be answered in the punishment phase and then the State administers the death penalty.

First question: Is the defendant guilty.....YES, Second question: Did the defendant knowingly and intentionally take the lives for which they are found guilty....YES Third question: was there any mitigating circumstances or factors in this case (on drugs, drunk, mentally ill, etc...) ....NO. The way the questions were answered means an Automatic Death Sentence. That is how the questions were answered.

It costs about $86.00 per drug to be administered when the sentence is carried out. There are 3 drugs. Very sad that the Wamsley's life didn't mean that much to those kids! they just wanted the $1.6 million dollar estate.

If you haven't read the story, it is very fascinating.

Think women spend more time on death row because of the monthly insanity put upon us by mother nature?

Ok to change the subject a little here. Does anyone else think the whole "I'm Crazy, I'm insane" thing is getting to be ridiculous? Every time now thats what they start saying. I was hearing voices, God told me to do it, etc etc etc. How about "I'm a loser with no morals and I'm lazy and dont want to do anything in life without having stuff given to me and I'm also just a down right scumbag who doesnt mind taking someone else's life over a few quarters and a beer." Pleading insanity is a cop out if there ever was one and I wish they'd do away with it.

Hell if I ever do something I am just going to say "I'm crazy, Jesus told me to do it." Then I'm going to use the bathroom on myself. Think it will work? Apparently it does since about 75% of our murder cases are like that.

For the insanity defense to work, you have to have a lifelong history of insanity. Now, in Justin's scenario, you would plead "temporary insanity" and be sure to wipe yourself when you get back to your cell!!!:D

Actually, it costs way more to go through a capital murder case then a life in prison case. Something like a couple million more in texas and even higher in other states. the statistics are pretty widely printed, but here's an example.

Ultimately, if they did not sit on death row for 15 to 20 years, the costs could be signifigantly reduced. And maybe if there was a bit stiffer penalty for some of the crimes commited, we wouldn't have to build more prisons...

What Alan said......Yeah, it might cost more to have a death penalty case but there is no way the cost of them living for 20 extra years is cheaper.

Especially when you consider some guys are in prison for 40 or 50 years...

Lets just say you get sentanced to life and you serve 50 years before you die and lets say it only cost $10 a day to feed and house you which I am sure is very low. $10 x 356 days x 50 years= $182,500.00!

Not to mention we will have to keep building prisons, you have to pay to staff them, etc etc etc. Plus the longer they are alive the more court dates etc.

I think that I read somewhere that on average, between food, guards, medical expenses, etc. it costs about $150,000 per year to house an inmate...

I am very glad that they are locked up an not on the streets! I am glad that the tax money goes to keep these psychopaths off the street!

It is money well spent compared to a $7,000 governemental toilet seat!!!:D

It could be! I guess they can't evaluate women once a month because of "the curse"!!!:D

Ooh! Please don't tell me that women spend 25% longer on death row! :D

I've long wondered if entire prisons full of women "synchronize."

That synchronization thing fascinates me. That two bodies can chemically communicate through the air, one obviously telling the other "You stay where you and I'll change to where you're at!"

Okay, I see the proper term is "synchronous menstruation." Wikipedia doesn't even cover it!

Wow Ron, I never expected a dude like yourself to come up with even the term "synchronous menstruation". You never cease to amaze me!

It's quite simple. Because we 'civilized' people are supposed to be of higher moral character and decency then a cold blooded killer.

And I believe that murderers should be killed using the same method that they murdered. If they murdered more than one using different methods, use the one in which the victim(s) suffered the most.

The fact that some of these people intentionally murder in ways TO terrorize their victims and that, we're going to worry about whether they suffer on their way out? Not me.

Not that anyone has to worry about my beliefs being law. About the same day we have a flat tax! :D

LOL, trust me, I googled menstruation and synchronize before I found it. It IS a topic I've wondered aloud about before. I mean, it has to be bodies participating in two way communication. If they both moved forward, they'd never or almost never meet. I just wonder what the intent in nature is for that one? Has it ever really been studied? I'd like to know how quickly it happens, etc. Are there any particular statistical traits about women whose weeks change and women whose weeks let the other person change around them? Which body says "You stay where you are and I'll come to you"?

I see and figure out LOTS of traits pertaining to people that I think are too politically incorrect to end up in studies. Things such as obvious variances in masculinity and femininity in both genders, regardless of sexual preferences. A lesbian friend of mine once gave me some insight that goes well beyond what you see on the surface, too. Human nature is just fascinating, IMO.

Traveling from town to town with my cabinets in the northeast every week, I see every kind of ethnic background, culture, personality, etc, etc, etc, that you could imagine. I'm sure the same's for you in school.

Thumbs up to that, my civility (is that a word???) ends when someone intentionally harms another person. Their right to life is over, as far as I'm concerned. Public hangings ought to be more commonplace.
