Im not sure why some people are so worried that the convicted person will feel a little pain during the execution process.

You can rest assured that the killer didn't give a damn whether his victim suffered or felt any pain when he committed the crime, yet we are somehow supposed to get all worked up that the creep might suffer in his death.

That is exactly my take on it as well. Personally, they ought to go back to hangings, in public for that matter.

I would prefer it the other way around....;)

Well guys this bit me today.......I had jury duty this morning and since I'm a lucky guy I was the 10th person called this morning out of 500 to join a special 40 person jury selection pool. Turns out, its for a big high profile case thats fixing to start next Monday and we had to answer 10 pages of questions about the death penalty, our thoughts and morals on everything, and some very personal questions as well. I have to call back tomorrow and talk to there office and if I was selected after the interviewing process then I will be back there next Monday morning to start the trial and will probably be there a week so I was told. I kinda want to do it and I kinda dont want to do it. I know my boss aint gonna be happy tomorrow when I tell her! But I think one reason I got caught in it personally was b/c they had the death penalty on hold while the courts decided, they made there decision yesterday and then this morning I walk in and boom. This is a case very important to the city of Houston and to be honest with yal I think I might get picked b/c of the way I answered the questions but I answered honestly.

Aaah the call of jury duty. If you have not been through the experience Justin your in for a treat. And Oh by the way, voir dire is a term used to pick a jury. If you are pro death penalty be prepared to be axed by the defense attorney on one of their many motions to exempt you and others with similiar views.

But all is not lost, you still get your 20 dollars a day or whatever nominal fee they pay you.

Welcome to the circus pad'na! :p

I've never understood the argument that lethal injection is painful anyway. Hell, they give you drugs that knock you unconsious first; just like for a surgery patient. I've had surgery a couple of times and never felt a thing...til I woke up, that is.

Besides that, I agree: Who really gives a damn if it hurts a little for the condemned guy?

The argument from the anti death penalty crowd is that since the prisoner is paralyzed because of the sedation that is administered first, there is no way of knowing if the drugs that stop the heart is causing pain to the prisoner. My response to that argument is, "Who cares"? .

The last execution in California was on a guy named tookie williams. back in the day, he was a big shot if the Los Angeles crips gang. He was convicted of killing a store clerk during a robbery and a few days later killing a family of 3 during a robbery of a hotel. His motive for killing the people was to prevent any witnesses being left behind. It was even reported that he made fun of the gurgling sounds one of his dying victims made as she laid there dying.

When it can time to plug the tubes into tookie's veins for his execution, the medical attendant had to make several attempts to find a vein that would hold the needle. Apparently, tookie's previous drug abuse wreaked havoc on his veins. The anti-death penalty activists who witnesses the execution said that the repeated attempts of the medical assistant to find a good vein with the needle amounted to cruel and unusual punishment. Give me a f$@%ing break :rolleyes::rolleyes:

In my world, condemned prisoners would be executed in the same manner that they killed their victims.

I served on a Capital Murder jury 2 years ago and it was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. We asked the prosecutors after the trial how we got picked and it was because we were all on the middle of the fence about the death penalty. I had to hear the facts first in order to make the decision.

Here is the link to the story http://www.dallasobserver.com/2004-07-15/news/family-plot

Chelsea Richardson is sitting on Death Row and has lost her appeal. I know that we made the RIGHT decision when it came time to deliberate. This young woman is right where she should be.

She is also profiled on the latest installment of "Women on Death Row 3" on the WE channel. It made my stomach turn when they interviewed her. She has NO remorse and of course, she denies it.

Good luck to you Justin. I have to say that crime scene photos are very graphic, and it is ok if you feel emotional when you see them. I also learned quite a bit about forensics, pathology, dna and handwriting!!! it was very interesting to say the least.

Well I got a call from the courts this morning that I was chosen to be on the jury however the Defense Attorney got to kick 5 people off of it and I was one he axed! Imagine that! So I will be back regulary scheduled life now!

Good! Now I can ask you if it was the trial for the murders of Maria Aparece and Huy Ngo?

If it is, then be glad you got kicked off that jury! I would not want to be on the jury of ANY gang member.

Just heard Texas has 300 on DR, and 40 have expired there legal options. Brownsville about to git buzy......
RO

California has 5 that have ran out of appeals, so hoepfully San Quentin gets busy.....

I recently read about a meausre to limit the appeals process for death row inmates to approx 7 years...whoop-de-doo...I say they get 7 days before we throw the switch..

Its actually the case against an illegal immigrant. Houston Police Office Rodney Johnson stopped him on 45 south 2 years ago and arrested him. Handcuffed him and everything and supposedly searched him as well and then placed him in the backseat of the patrol car. Once Officer Johnson got in, the suspect then somehow handcuffed and all pulled a gun from somewhere and shot Officer Johnson thru the seat killing him.

An interesting side story to this is the illegal guy worked for a guy who owned a landscaping company in my city of Deer Park. The illegal had been deported atleast once maybe twice I cant remember but the guy who owned the landscaping company paid to get him back over here and has been arrested for being an accomplise in the case of the murder.

OMG! I just read about how it all went down and I hope he gets what he deserves! AND the sick f#*k is a pedophile too!!!

as an interesting side note, I got axed from a jury after the prosecutor mentioned that she had seen me surfing several times at San Onofre State beach where she also surfs. During her questioning, she asked me if I had ever had a bad run in with her on the water and if so would it prejuduce my judgement with the case she was to present. Since I hadn't recalled ever seeing her at the beach, I replied that I could be impartial in my decision. When it was the defense attorney's turn to question me, he immediately dismissed me. I guess he was concerned that the prosecutor and I shared a common bond thru surfing that would be detrimental to his client.

What about the pain that the victims' survivors have to endure for the rest of THEIR lives?

Once you decide that you have the right to wrongfully take someone else's life, I think that should be the moment that you lose the right to your own.
