Terry..i stand corrected. Dad is involved on the business side of things..ie sponsor acquisition, and activation. EE and GE are very close and she looks to him for additional motivation. I've worked for GE and have been close friends with him for many years..he has a knack of saying something to you that makes you feel like you can do anything. So before you judge him you first must know him.

In my book, you have to actually win races (a lot of them) to be an actual superstar. She may make that level someday, but that day isn't here yet. One thing she has suffered from is the hype machine her father and Rob Geiger have created for her. It's exageration and arrogance at this point. Remember the race team stock sale they conducted? I wonder how that wound up? Any stock holders out there to report?
One thing is for sure...she now has a championship caliber car, a championship caliber crew and championship caliber power. There are no excuses now, she should compete at the highest level in the class.

I have known GE for over 25 years. It's best if I don't say anything further about him on this site.
I do wish the best for Erica, in spite of her father. She is in good hands with Victor. Just as she was before.

Although I agree with everything in your first paragraph, I'm not ready to relinquish the accuracy of the entire second paragraph. Jeggie always had a great crew. But the car wasn't always championship caliber, nor was the power. There was an above normal percentage of their success based solely on who was in the seat, I believe.
I've said before and I'll say it again, I believe Erica has the tools, but she's not Jeggie. No reason not to be a top-5 player, though.

You're right about Jeggie. He is easily in the top 5 drivers of all time in the Pro Stock class. Their in-car camera had him giving a detailed description of the run as soon as he dropped the chutes...along with chassis suggestions. Add that to his ability to saw down the tree...especially in eliminations, and you have the best overall driving package in the class.
Victor's car isn't 'automatic', but all the tools and resources are there to qualify in the top 5 at most every event and go at least a round or two. It's a GREAT ride.

Just curious how Danika Patrick fits into your book, because she's a much bigger Superstar than any Pro Stock driver that I can think of........
I am happy to see Erica get into a competitive ride for this season, it will be great for the sport of Drag racing.

Danica is a 'model' that also drives. Like her or not, she's a marketing tool for her sponsors. She's only won one race (in Japan) so just to be fair, she's not a racing "superstar" either. She is a tremendous marketing tool and garners more attention because of it. I don't ever see Erica having that type of marketing affect for a sponsor.

The pressure will certainly be on them to perform right off the bat.
I'm surprised Victor didn't take a more mechanically inclined approach with selecting a driver. Jeggie was very good at driver feedback to the crew. Having a driver with that type of ability is critical when a thousandth of a second determines qualifying, winning and losing. I know I would want a "wrench" behind the wheel if I were the owner.

I would never derail a thread . . . but. Speaking of long term funding, what happened to that high-line SLC rent-a-garage that appeared briefly on WJ's and KJ's cars?
I was struck by the "only Chevrolet in the class" language.
GM needs to step up to support a new entry in Pro/Stock though I don't know what they'd use.
They also need new Funny Car bodies.
