I understand that prize money is not a major factor in the heavily sponsored Pro teams. They are already funded. But can someone explain why there wasn’t a great turnout for the top alcohol classes at the triple crown? Would they make more money from contingency sponsors by going to Norwalks divisional race? What am I missing here?

No I the contingency won't make up the difference. But I believe the Norwalk group are looking at the bigger picture and comment.

Just wait, A new injected fuel altered roadster will be running the IHRA fuel altered class and kicking you know what,🤫

It was 15000$ to win alky at Columbus. I think 2500$ at Norwalk. 7500$ to win IHRA alky national vs 5600$ nhra(I think). IHRA alky point champ get 50000$ for 8 races vs probably at least 14 in NHRA. I would expect Joey and Jackie to be at Milan. I would believe lots alky car at Maple Grove.

Im curious at the lack of nitro cars that predominantly run nhra and predominantly *don't* win, that skipped a chance at 150k

Must be nice to have the extra money, to skip out on $150k check, along with the other paydays for basically just showing up

The reason being some of the cars run NHRA and need to accumulate points for the NHRA championship so it becomes a trade off of money vs points.

Five weeks in a row for the crew isn't going to cut it, costs money to show up and run and maybe not get into an 8 car field There were 15 cars there already no guarantee with 2 qualifying runs

Well remember, you have to qualify and then win to get the $150K, and it's no cakewalk to win, no matter which HRA you run.

In most cases their sponsorship isn’t paying them to run extra races. At 10 grand a run, qualifying and losing first or second round is a break even scenario. Plus being Father’s Day weekend and 5 in a row is a hard sell to the crew.

I think the timing had a lot to do with it. They would be running 5 weeks in a row if they went to it. They needed the week off to regroup and catch up on spares after 3 straight and Norwalk next week.
