A excellent site devoted to the history of the Garlits family
Reading the Garlits story reminded me of when I went to high school in Los Angeles. I attended a school that was just down the street from Wieand. Someone told me Garlits' dragster was there, so a few of us went to Wieand. There it was, on an open trailer, and we all just looked at it in awe. This was maybe 1960? & I think the car had a blown Chrysler then. The trailer was hitched to a car and I think Garlits had a sponsorship with Wieand at the time. Where did he put the spare parts? Didn't see Big but just the car. Wow....
