Donnie Johansen - Howard Cams

Donnie Johansen of the Howard Cams family passed away this morning. He was 76 years old and younger brother of Jerry of the Howard Cam Rattler and Howard Cam Twin Bear Cars. He was part of the restoration of the Twin Bear Car.
Howard Cams was one of the early cam grinders in SoCal and also made aluminum rods.
A wonderful person.

How was he related to Bobby-he made rods for me is he still with us?

Bobby was his younger brother.

Bobby passed a few years ago. Donnie who was the middle brother continued to grind cams after Howard’s was sold. Most people don’t know how many of the teams or engine builders would come to Donnie and say “Let’s make a new cam with a different firing order or center line or bigger base circle or even timing on the last lobes to allow for twist.” About as mellow of a guy you ever saw.
