I like the playoffs just like they are. The final 6 races are extremely exciting every season, the last three Pomona races went down to the wire.

People are crying about the Participation Trophies, but that is there for a reason, to help fill the fields. A team that doesn't plan on attending all of the races is probably not intending on chasing the Championship anyways.

Except we've had champions win it all and actually not race in all the races for the season.

those instances were mostly because they were way ahead and didn't need to. If your sponsors agreement says go you go unless you just can't.

Not much about the playoffs, 4-wide or anything else to like, but I’m just a fan. I don’t count to the NHRA. I love watching nitro cars run, but the racing itself isn’t the reason. The past few years I’ve spent more time watching derivatives of pro racing like drag and drive events and other little guy things than I have worrying about the NHRA points. It’s a business and I’m not much for watching businesses run on my days off.

Funny Car: Prock's championship to lose. Seems like it's a foregone conclusion even with the points shuffle.

Yes, that is really Hight's car, and I'm sure he would be running away with it this year as well if he was in the seat.

I would think they would put Hight back in the Cornwall car and Prock in John's car for next year.
Do they really want to breakup the family?

Well, I'm not sure why they have Jimmy Prock tuning for his son anyway. I thought after Eric was killed, they weren't going to have any more father tuning/son driving deals. Does everyone just have a short memory?

memory still works but times change. I'm guessing right now they don't even know.

I think it's great. I think the drivers get a little more strategic and it definitely makes it more intense. Deep down the driver's thrive on the closer competition whether they like to admit it or not. You can hear it in their interviews and any behind the scenes footage. It's far better than made-up drama.

the same entertainment value exists at phoenix, as it does in epping, as it does during all the C races.
pomona 2: slightly more entertaining as champions are crowned.
gainesville: slightly more entertaining as TF runs for extra dough and first nhra race of season
indy: has the most entertainment value for all it has to offer with myriad of special races and promotions
bradenton: arguably 2nd most entertainment value as they actually run for a boat load of dough

Not asking about the points titles per se, only the "playoff" format.

Imo both NASCAR and NHRA misjudge the majority of their fans . If a guy wins the title by 200 points and clinches by Dallas (in the old method), good for him.
I like it.

That is still totally possible. Billy Torrence has made the top 10 several times without competing in all of the races. Just need to finish the last 6 races on a tear.

I think that rule should be changed except for extenuating circumstances such as Brittany Force missing two races after her father was seriously injured.
