Watching the race this morning as I was to tired to watch last night. After PSM the recording ended.
Would have loved to see the finals but thanks to NCAA softball.

maybe after ESPN has been in the sports broadcasting business for a while they will learn how to schedule live broadcasts so they don't mess up the schedule for the whole day.......

Given my self-inflicted SNAFU earlier in the day (missed first two rounds shown live at Watch ESPN), I wanted to make certain I DVRd the ESPN broadcast. I began watching pretty late and - seeing the softball game - had the sense to record the show scheduled to follow the NHRA one.
PHEW! I wanted to savor Wilk's win.

I think some live NHRA broadcasts have eaten into the show that follows. So if you're taping the races, just tape an extra hour at the end, as many have suggested, many times, and you won't miss a beat.

FWIW I also record a half hr before the race. This usually means skipping through an hour of softball, but they caught me out by starting early once last year..
Now, what happened to the qualifying show? I was out of pocket all weekend and nada on the DVR...

How many YEARS have we had this exact same thread? You would think at this point everyone would know to set for the additional hour...

Because ESPN should shoulder no blame for scheduling live events (especially college sports) to 2 hours time blocks when they consistently take well over 2 hours to finish???

That doesn't mean viewer shouldn't be aware of the problem and work around it, but unless there is a rain delay or something like that the issue is 100% ESPNs. (But the complaints should probably be sent to ESPN and not a random internet message board. ;) )
