Cory McClenathan Leaving DSR Following Season End

Criminy - I've been a fan of Cory Mac since the Prock and MacAttac days.

I really thought he'd finally win a championship then play out his days with DSR.

As far as demographics are concerned: I doubt many peple make a buying decision based on a "younger face" in the dragster. I suspect, more of us old guys (than young) change our own oil.

I mean it's filters and stuff - not skate boards or Extreme Sport oriented stuff.

Disappointed!

maybe the don can call "trick tank" and put in a good word for him about some sponsorship help???

that is disappointing to hear. I am not a Cory Mac fan, but really, who and what has Spencer done? Not knocking him, but why do people think he is all that?

Yea screw Fram,im done buying there products.

This is the very reason why no company should touch NHRA racing with a 10 Ft pole.

A company can pour a bunch of money into this sport, and as soon as they stop, this kind of thing starts going around the internet.

I can not imagine why corporate America should get involved with this sport.

Not really in this case Jay. Many of us have had just too many failures with Fram filters over the years and all the marketing in the world wouldn't get some of us back as customers.

I just drank a Monster...so the brand bailing from sponsorship had no ill affect on my product purchase.

You mean NHRA fans are the only obne's that say this,i find that very hard to beleive.

Yeah, this does suck for Cory. I really thought this was gonna be his year, and have been pulling for him the whole way. Met him at the Charlotte-1 race and told him to go get it! He won that race and had a great year going, except for his meetings in the final round with Larry Dixon. Still, to have been as close to Dixon as he was, until the part breakage in Las Vegas knocked him out is just a shame. I too have followed Cory since his MacAttack days with Jimmy Prock, and if only he had known that skipping that race in Canada would be the deciding factor of his winning or losing the championship back in the early 90's he would have found a way to get to Sanair or wherever the race was. It was a budget thing then and that is what it all boils down to and even more these days. Hope things work out for Cory. He deserves better.

You clearly haven't spent any time on a NASCAR board, or an F1 board, or any other kind of forum for any sport. Nitromater is the tamest of the tame.

Who's in the championship hunt right now? Cory Mac, that's who! I guess time will tell how many more filters they sell but to be honest this won't change my buying habits any. At least now I have someone to root for in winning the TF championship. i guess if anyone doesn't think NHRA isn't a major sport think again.

Hey that's business, their stuff is iffy at best, I only bought their filters cause of Cory. I vote with my pocket book, sorry if the truth hurts.

What are you trying to say?
:confused::confused::confused:

I think he doesn't care, and really, what is the big deal? It's the natural turnstyle of racing, and it is ALL about who brings the sponsorship money to fill up the budget...
You guys talk as if Cory is entitled to a gold Wally, along with Ron.
Cory blew his chance by skipping Montreal to keep within his budget. I am sure he would give anything to re-do that one, but unfortunatly, that's not how it works. Jim Kelly, Dan Marino and Boomer Esiason can feel his pain..

Young drivers attract the cash, and will always push out the old guard, that's how it is.
When Cory was a young gun, we were also losing some of the sports elite to the same type of deal... Remember extreme talent like Dale Pulde?
Massey should be as lucky to last as long as Cory before some young gun with a backer kicks him to the curve.

Personally, I hope Cory lands another deal and comes back. He is a class act, and part of the sports history.

Bill;
That is different if the product is junk. No one would be using to begin with. People should be thankful for the companies that have put up the dough to make the sport what it is today, whether they are still involved or not.

Smoking will kill you, but if you have to do it, smoke Winston. If you drink beer, drink Bud, after all they did put a fortune into this sport.

By the way, sorry I missed you when you came by the other day.

Jay

Please explain to me how an oil filter has demagraphics! All ages use oil filters or do they think us older folks always HAVE our oil changed? Oh well, one more product not to use.

This really sucks for Cory. Hopefully, someone will see he still has a name and some good years to go yet (think of Chris K. at 82), and help him get a new team together.

Shumacher always said "this is a business" and now he's made that obvious. Talk about no job security!!!

Right on George, I don't care. Just another cry baby biting the dust.
