Here is another thing...
Now I like Cory Mac, he's great, real good dude, but none of you guys who like to have a stab at Whit call Cory out when he throws his helmet or a bottle of powerade,
Mike, obviously you don`t remember the flak CMac took on the old Mater for chucking his helmet into the van. Mel took some heat too for showing her emotions.
As far as Bazemore goes, his actions shouldn`t surprise anybody. I like the guy but he`s got to be frustrated at being the 1# car at David Powers Racing but be way back in points to his unsponsored teammate. I think it was apparent from the beginning that the two aren`t the best of buds...but so what, Whit stirs the pot like no other driver and he makes things interesting.

All true Bob... Not sure which column to put you in, on my list of Whit fans... :) I'm not sure it is really any big secret that Whit and Hot Dawg are not the best of teamates with eachother since they joined forces... It is Whit's problem, but on his resume, it clearly states; DOES NOT PLAY WELL WITH OTHERS... ;) And all this talk about Matco switching over to Dog's ride, and booting Whit from his... Please, grow up like the man your bashing needs to do a little more... I'm sure that Whit is extremly frustrated at watching his teammate dominate this season, and is wondering what he has to do to win one of these things... Whit and Beard are just not getting the breaks they could use... BTW- If you look at that pic that Asher took, looks like the camera is still rolling to me...

Why did Force get in Beards face a few years ago again?? And was part of the opening for NHRA DR shows... Garlits never lost it, or Shirley, Prudhomme, Force, Kalitta, on and on and on... This is a sport that has a very short fuse, so why would it be a surprise that the drivers have one as well...
This sport is all about emotion and passion, that's why I never left and love it so much... :D

Voice your opinions on this however you see fit...
But I will always be a huge Whit fan...

What would Hip say?? I'm sorry I never knew that Man...

BTW- Standard Operating Procedure> JMO

I don't fault Whit being mad that he lost. But the problem was him ranting aginst his team mate.I thought Rod and Whit got along ok.Guess not.I hadn't watch Rod race until he started with the NHRA.Rod seems pretty calm.Or doesn't he get along well with others either?

First let me say this board is weak! (This is for those of you who read an earlier thread)

1. The Kleenex comment was probably stolen from an Angelle thread.

2. Whit is a jerk not because of his emotions, or that he kicks his car. It is because he is always blaming others, which would be fine if a crew member left the rev limiter on. Sometimes you just loose, ask Doug Kalitta (see 2006 finals). You didn't hear Greg Anderson saying any relationship he had with Erica Enders was over. He was mad, real mad and argued what he thought was the rule and was shown he was wrong. Will he retaliate against EE? I doubt it, but he won't make the same mistake twice. Beat the asphalt within an inch of it's life with your helmet if you like but it ain't Rods fault.

3. To me Whit has always come across on TV as thinking he is superior both mentally and physically to the other drivers and he should be winning because of it. I'm sure he does not really think that and it is just the way he comes across or is made to look by the producers of the show. After all Mike Dunn can't be that bad of a judge of character.

4. Now was that Michael Veskovich vs Samuel Davidowicz or John Toliver vs Samuel Davidowicz. Never mind I think this post has "gone turtle"

Good stuff. (But I still refer to my earlier post).

Thanks for that Carl. That is another side of a very passionate driver. It is a shame that we don't get to see that side of him.

I still think he needs a "hug session"!!!:D

I think Suzie just REALLY wants to hug Whit!!!!!!!!:D:eek:

(just funnin' with ya Suzie)!!

DD, I did say it was Whit's problem, not Hot Dogs more than once in my post... :)

Since this started as a Congrat's Hot Rod thread, I guess I better say; Congrats Rod and crew, on another great weekend... Rob Flynn has really surprised me this year... :)

I wonder why this team can't find a sponsor with such a loveable guy behind the butterfly?? ;)

A few years ago at Pomona, at the finals, a young man in a wheelchairs was brought down to turnaround during the final runs with his family. It was a Make-a-Wish project and he was a big fan of Whit's and wanted to meet him. Whit climbed out of his car and we told him there was someone who wanted to meet him. Whit talked with him and his family at length and as a parting gesture handed the young man his helmet. You have never seen such a smile. Did it get on TV or in ND? No.

Then last year when my wife, Carol, passed away I received two of the nicest emails from Whit. He didn't know us that well. He saw us about eight times a year when we worked, but he had enough compassion to go out of his way and write.

Time to get off my soap box. I just wanted people to see the other side.

Thanks for posting that Carl. I'm sure that is the case with many drivers. We are stuck with the info the media shows us. Of course most people try to also take 3rd party observations into account too. I have seen and heard enough things to make me see Whit as a jerk and yet I have also heard many, many people say he is a genuinely nice guy that just lets his emotion control him too much.

My opinion is just that. However, obviously he has many folks divided.

I didn't know what I was starting with the congrats thread:) I thought Whit was starting to mellow out.I guess Whit is someone we love to hate:D

I didn't know what I was starting with the congrats thread:)
What's really bad is I didn't even really peak in in the first stages of (yes, much congrats due to Hot Rod & team, but)...

But after the thread went past 2 pages, I knew exactly what it had turned into without even looking in it for the first time.
