Larry:

I got thinking this morning. What was your day job prior to retirement? Did you have several careers outside of drag racing? I don't recall ever hearing about that. Were you a full-time employee at Lions before they closed? Did you then go to work at Irwindale, etc until they all closed? Or was being a drag racing starter always a part-time gig? I believe you were out of drag racing by the mid-1980's, so you would have been in your 40's by then. Did you ever consider going to work full-time for NHRA, or work for SEMA, along the lines of what Carl Olson did? Just curious to learn a little about your life outside of drag racing.

Larry, so very glad we had little time to talk the reunion. Sorry you didnt Zingos but still a great time..

Larry Thanks' for looking out for me back in the day. I knew you had my best interest and safety always in mind, you put yourself in the line of fire more times than most people realize.

Enjoy your good health and retirement.

Hey Larry... thanks for being the guy on the tree for my very first drag race. You used to send my pop, Milton Steward, down the Lions track in his gassers and BB/FC.

Out side drag racing I spent 47 years in aero space Landing gear, military and commercial (quality and or procurement) covering the the west coast. they wouldn't let me retire, you know how they could talk me out of retirement LOL. I was saving the company millions in procurement. but like drag racing I had enough of the years and stress and Findley said I am gone. being the starter and driving race cars was my hobby and true love.

PS; I quit drive race cars in 1998. A top alcohol dragster and testing for my heros James Warren and Roger Colburn's top fuel dragster.

Absolutely perfect, sir!! We'll done!
That was his Blue Power car, a 1953 Chevy Panel... Soon replaced by a 1957 Belair (orange) while he was building his BB/GS Corvette.

The two year anniversary of his passing was monday; thanks for a post that brought a bit of a tear to my eye.
