Below is the RFP (request for proposal) being sent out by Jackson County to get a "manager" of the drag strip. The RFP is only open for ONE WEEK, so if anyone is interest, get busy! We really hope to get someone in there who knows what they're doing.

UPDATE FROM JACKSON COUNTY: The County is putting out an RFP for tomorrow (Wednesday, Feb, 29) with proposals due on March 7 @ 5:00 p.m. Your help in getting the word out to potential bidders is appreciated.
We are managing the facility differently for the next three years than has been done in the past. Rather than sign a commercial lease, we are only going to enter into a management agreement where the successful bidder will operate, promote, manage, and complete routine maintenance the track. The County will provide most all of the necessary equipment to operate the track. We will also be responsible for landscape maintenance, including mowing, irrigation, and weed control; water, sewer, electricity and garbage collection service expenses; building major maintenance, such as painting and fixture replacement; track repairs necessary to maintain insurance requirements; and fencing repairs.
Proposals are expected to share revenue with the county and make improvements to the facility. The details of this revenue sharing and capital improvements is to be part of each bidders proposal.
To aid in attracting an operator and promoter, we have procured the equipment for the track which we will provide to the operator. This includes:
1. The Compulink Startrak Timing System (w/Crosstalk & Split Tree, Computer, Log Printer, Ladder Printer, Editor Monitor & Keyboard, Announcer Screen, Operator Monitor, Christmas Tree, Timeslip Printer, Infareds for Starting line, 60’, 330’, 660’ & MPH, 1000’, 1320’ & MPH)
2. VHT/Track Dragger Combination with pump
3. Safety stop net at the end of the drag strip
4. FM Broadcast Radio Station and PA system
The Management Agreement, to be negotiated by the parties is anticipated to start in the beginning of April of 2012, although the submitted racing schedule is not required to start in April. The initial agreement term shall be for one racing season, commencing when fully executed and terminating at 12:00 AM October 31, 2012. The agreement can be renewed for two additional years.
See Jackson County’s web site for a copy of the RFP or call Steve Lambert or John Vial at 774-8184.

This is a great opportunity to take over a track with a very loyal group of local supporters backing them. I know this group and they make operating this track so much easier. More importantly, someone can take over and manage this track with a small capital investment rather than starting from scratch. If I was not racing I would apply for this gig. It's a good one.

Thanks to the County for all they have done behind the scenes to make this possible! Rather than close it down they are fighting to keep it open. What a switch from what just took place in Kansas City!

There's some good news! Bob Lidell the promoter of the Redding track is going to submit a PFR since the county was able to make the conditions favorable and easier to attract a new manager. Nothing official but he is trowing his hat in the ring! So the future looks a little brighter!
