Chad Head

I was noticing on the qualifying show, and probably should have caught it earlier, but there is something that looks like a shift light mounted on the driver protection shield on Chad heads funny car. Obviously it has nothing to do with shifting, but what do they use that light for, oil pressure?

maybe the other end is open and when it lights up you know you have to hit the fire bottles....

Actually it lets him know he is hitting the rev limiter, so he don't lift

It used to be for pan pressure so you knew to lift..
