Joe stay away from plasma, Stick with LCD. jmo. The plasma's have a glass cover that reflects the light bad, LCD doesn't.
Not the Panasonic Professional Series plasmas. I have a 50" 10th generation on my wall at home and it's incredible. Plus with plasmas, the viewing angles are much much greater.

I bought a 52" Samsung LCD television after reading a lot of reviews of different TV's.I ended up getting the best deal thru BuyDig.com.They took about a week to get the TV to me(I ordered online over a weekend)and it was shipped to my home,the delivery guy helped me open the carton,and set the TV up.Full warranty,no tax or shipping.Sony and Samsung use a lot of the same parts,(who they get from Panasonic)so that's why their pictures look pretty much the same.I based my choice on the TV displays in the various big box stores(Best Buy Circuit City etc) and also online reviews and suggestions.
Also,once you get the new set,get the HD upgrade from your sattelite or cable provider,the difference is night and day!! I have Direct TV and have had them for 11 years.

Sony..Samsung,and Panasonic all great tv's....think about where its going in your house as far as reflective light goes...if theres alot of light beware of the "shiney" screens ...i bought a 52" Sony xbr series around the superbowl for under three grand ...that same tv is now going for 4200 dollars .....if you can wait ...buy around the holidays or before the superbowl....as far as plasma or lcd i don't have a preference ....with a plasma there is less judder in the picture and in my opinion a little clearer ..JMO.....heres an address to go to to compare ....cnet.com....i also had them deliver and set it up for peace of mind also had them check for dead pixels

Right now this is the tv i am leaning towards.
Samsung - 42" Class 720p Flat-Panel Plasma HDTV - PN42A450
I can get this tv for just over $800.00 this tv will be in low light conditions only one window in room that tv will be in and my deck shades any light coming in from that window so tv will never be in any direct sunlight. i noticed the plasma is a touch quicker than the lcd and the image seems to be crisper as well. also i will be in need of another tv in less than a year for upstairs so for that one i will probably get a lcd 1080P.

Joe, I did alot of research like Chris and everthing kept pointing to Samsung. My last tv was a Sony 53' XBR that lasted 12 years, but everyone kept telling me to buy Samsung. Like Tony, the 52" HD for my living room at Best Buy And a Samsung 40" for my bedroom. Both Tv's are have great pictures. Everyone who visits the house is always telling me what great picture the that the 52" has,extremly happy with both tv's.
