The DSR and JFR canopies are basically the same. The design was done by DSR/DSM but is "open source" Its not exclusive and I don't think DSM makes any of it with the exception of the hinges and bracing on their own cars. Anyone wanting one can buy the parts for one. Don did it for safety and believes it should be available for all (and I'm sure NHRA feels the same way when they allowed it) The chassis' are modified to fit them, so you'd probably be dealing with either one of them to modify and install on an existing car. And yes, they are not open windshields like that pic. I imagine that was an old one cut up for mock-up purposes.
They don't. After they designed it, they sold it to Aerodine, as far as I remember. So it's Aerodine's product and is manufactured the exact same for every one, from what I read when researching this previously. There can be no modifications made. It has to be the same thing NHRA approved.
