Brainerd MPH (1 Viewer)

If I remember correctly someone has run 340+ and that set off alarms at both Goodyear and NHRA. All 3 PRO classes have RPM limitors on them. It was mentioned last weekend that a couple top fuel cars were on their limitors. I know Goodyear is the reason for that. They have made it very clear to NHRA that the tire today has a 350mph rating and they want a certain mph safety margin. They are also not going to redesign a new faster tire. The current tire is the best ever. It is very rare to see one coming apart unless it is caused by something hitting the tire.
Well no timed 340 run has happened, but on 338-339 runs I'm sure they could be hitting 340 before slowing down. And while the current tires my be the best ever, my only complaint is that they don't make billows of smoke on the burnouts!

I thought I heard on TV it was a headwind?

Strong tailwind out of the west on Saturday...

maybe more realistically, when are the TAD's going to break 300?
the 5-teen @ 280+ runs are pretty spectacular......i don't know enough about the class if rules that would enable the nitro cars to pick up would also
benefit the alcohol cars? ........ i hope the 1000' rules for the pro cars can stay about where they are at. really glad to see wilk run that big speed though.
If they were both allowed a reduction in weight, then yes. But that's not going to happen and neither will 4 second, 300mph runs. NHRA fiddled with TAD parity until they were blue in the face; it's pretty equal now so they've decided to let that sleeping dog sleep. I believe that's the reason injected nitro cars aren't allowed in TAFC - nobody wants to bear the expense and years of parity hassle for a dying class.

Hight's team did its damndest 4 years ago to break 340 at Sonoma and came withing a whisker of doing it (339.87) along with FC's first and only 3.7 pass (Brainerd, same year). Force tried 2 years ago at Dallas under superb Friday night conditions and ran 338-something @ 3.82. I was sitting in the finish-line stands; what a pass. :) I dunno - there's probably a 340 out there somewhere but I'm not holding my breath.

I really, really wanted someone to run 340 at the time, just to break the "final barrier". Even if it was a (gasp) funny car instead of a dragster. heh Well, ya never know.....

Hagan ran .79 at 338 at Indy in 2017. Not long after Robert went 339 in Sonoma. Probably my favorite run I’ve ever seen live lol

It was on pace for 340+ on the 3.79 run in Brained. 2 more MPH at the 1/8 than the 339 run (292 up to 294!) but put a hole out before the lights and only (ha ha) went 338. That run would have broke both barriers.

With the fixed angle of the headers and rules package, you will never see 340 on the scoreboards in either fuel classes...
