Brad Personett is Flying..

He has a tenth on the rest of the field.

Maybe he can coax a 260mph pass out of that BS3 '68 Camaro in one of tomorrow's sessions?

I see a Rule change on the horizon...

I believe you're right, Mr. Sherwood.

Shoudlnt be,look how much he struggled in the past, now its time for some payback!!

As much as I would like to agree with this statement, I don't think it's going to matter much. When he starts consistently pounding that a$$, the changes will come. They may not even wait on the consistent part.

One of my top sportsman buddies told me, just give them a little bit more time and the turbo guys will have the blown and nitrous guys sh!tting there pants. Guess he was right lol

So, come on share, what exactly is the rule change that is being discussed? Don't just throw that out there without some substantiation!

They shouldn't change the rules at this point in time. Personett won Indy, all right, but not as a result of stellar elapsed times. He's up a tenth on everyone this weekend because on a hot racing surface, like ZMax was yesterday (128 at one time), the softer launch of a turbo car plays to his advantage. Why punish him for that?

Blower cars have run as quick and fast as 5.84/249 anyway. I say leave Brad and the turbocharged combination alone for now.

i see one coming too... rule change that is.... best if they keep it simple.. like in road racing.. car is consistantly faster they add weight... some thing like that might work... i fear if they go to heavy on a change in the turbos or some part of the combination it will leave a black eye on the class and the situation...

but for now he is flying....no dout...

more weight = need for more stopping time/room. It may be an option for a change or too but not more.

Hopefully they do nothing a few races don't make a trend. As someone else said the softer start of this on a hot tricky track plays to its advantage. Let em race

i get what your saying ..but i don't think the amount would change the stopping distance much to matter on the PM's... almost everyone i see have the best braking setups available...

or they could drop some weight on the other cars...????

Seems he had a problem getting it stopped in 1st round elims...

On paper, Radford didn't have a chance, so his best strategy was to cut a good light and make a consistent run to make Personett earn the win. Radford did his job and had a tenth in hand at the tree. He almost pulled off the upset, but Personett's car made it's trademark top end charge and Personett took the lead beyond the 1,000-foot marker.
Brad Personett's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.139), 330 ft(-0.137), 660ft(-0.089), 1,000ft(-0.021). MOV: 0.0470 seconds (approximately 16 feet). Then the fun began as Personett tried to get the car stopped and he went way into "the beach" (which is huge here at zMax Dragway). It took a huge crew to drag the car back to the pavement and his crew will have a lot of work to do to get that car cleaned up for round two. If he can answer the call, he will have lane choice against Hoover in the quarterfinals.

BW, NHRA will not add weight, it will be a Turbo size issue. He's running 91's now, not sure how much taking 10m would make on power!

How many races (events) has this guy won? Indy is the only one I know of so far and that's grounds for adding weight to the car?

I have watched for YEARS as he has struggled with this combination, for the most part, unsuccessfully, and now he wins a race (by default; the other car was broken) and all of a sudden it's time to re-think the rules?

Give me a break; it's not like all the other competitors didn't have the opportunity he had (to build a turbo car.) He was just smarter, that's all. Isn't that what drag racing's all about, engineering one-upmanship?

Wait until he wins 4 in a row and then let the crying begin; this is way premature!
