I seem to remember a member (hmmmmmm........could be the title of a song:p)..............

Has or had a Boss Hoss.

I am really, seriously thinking of buying one.

A customer of mine has a friend that has five left, ('06's or '07's) leftovers from a dealership he had somewhere around Daytona.

It went belly up.

He's up here in Connecticut with the bikes, and I am going to look at them tomorrow.

20G sound OK for a small block?

A couple were demo's, never registered. Titles exist, he's a close friend of my customer, and my customer is stand up.

Just asking, if anyone has input, I'd appreciate it.

BTW, I have a supercharged 100" V-Twin, a 1981 GS1100, and a built XLCH, so I am used to power, I heard a dealer up here will not let you demo ride one if you ride a HD.

I just saw a Boss Hoss with a BBC 632 in it tonight at as local bike show. This is a monthly bike show and every time he drives away he is completely out of control. The bike is going every which way but straight and smoke is rolling off the back tire! Everyone knows him as "basketballs for balls" because of the way he drives that thing.

I'm not a huge fan of BH's but they would be a ball of fun to drive! :D

It's one of those things I just WANT:rolleyes:

HECK........I know for sure I really don't need it:D

I figure it this way, I'm 53 (a "Young;)53...........)

there is gonna' be a finite amount of time I'll be able to enjoy one of these things, and frankly, Who knows if in ten years, they'll be allowed on any road.

So I'll get while the gettin' is good, and just enjoy while I can.

I'm not gonna' get younger:)

If the dealership went out of business, I'd definitely look at the overall health of the company. If there are no dealers locally, that means no warranty work. I don't care how well built something is, there will most likely be some kind of warranty issues. I'd also worry about what you will do for parts availability. I'm pretty sure that the transmissions have some unique, proprietary parts and I have heard of transimission issues with them. If the dealer network is strong, and you really want one go for it.

Rex.........
......... I would say it all depends on what the reason is you are buying it. If you want the "look at me" factor or just like the sound of it, or like the looks than I would say buy it.
If you want it for acceleration or handleing I would say Buy a Hayabusa or ZX1400 Kawi. Both of these bikes will crush the Boss Hoss in any type of performance contest.
Whatever you decide to buy have fun with it!:D

There is a warranty, just spoke to the guy on the phone.

We have a dealer about 50 miles from my home, I'm sure they will honor a factory warranty.

The company is OK, another, mega, super flashy dealership opened up outside of Daytona, I guess he had a smaller place.

He just said the Hell with it, with the economic downturn, they were not going out the door much anyway.

I was going to buy a used one, so I would not have had a warranty anyhow.

I hear you on the proprietary stuff, but a small block chevy?

In my sleep:D

Thanks for the input, yeah, I'm definitely gonna' get one.

Sooner or later;)

Thanks Paul.

I hear ya' on the performance, I just don't want a sewing machine that looks like EVERY other sewing machine.

What will I say......... Could have had a V-8???????;):D

Well..........

I DID buy a V-8 bike.

American King V, made in La.

Used, 4200 miles. Y2K

Chose it over the Boss Hoss for, Cheaper
Lighter
Uses mostly Harley and Chevy parts.

Boss Hoss's use a lot of proprietary stuff, lay it down, and damage the radiator? 2k to replace, King V uses a BeCool from Summitt or Jegs, etc. About 25% the cost or less.

Gonna have it in about a week.

Can't wait:)

I was trying to find the photos of my buddy's beautiful custom Boss Hoss.. if I come across them I will post them..Beautiful turquoise bike with hand painted Native American princess on the tank...

Has a huge Shaver aluminum motor in it...lots of custom stuff.

Not sure where it ended up...he passed away in May '01 and the family was selling it...oh how I wish I had that kind of $$$$$
He drove sprint cars all his life and he made the comment that this was the only thing that "scared" him when he hit the throttle... :D

My Buddy went to Longview and looked at a Boss Hoss, He asked the Dealer "how many gears does it have?" , He said "none, let out the clutch and go, no transmission, if you want to go faster just twist the throttle." Go figure. My Nieghbor had one too, his was a fuel injected LS1, it sounded hairy!!!
