A C Delco Countdown To Go - Peter Cochrane

Tuesday, 21 August 2007 - (Brisbane, Qld) Brett Stevens Racing, has announced that Pro Stock Bike legend Peter Cochrane will be taking over the riding duties of the S&S Powered Pro Stock Buell for the 2007/2008 Australian Drag Racing Championship, commencing at the upcoming ACDelco East Coast Nationals.

Pete 'The Punisher' Cochrane is one of the countries most experienced Drag Bike riders, beginning his racing career at age 19 in 1981 on standard street bikes.

Over the years he has raced numerous machines with many event victories covering nearly every Drag Racing motorcycle bracket in Australia as he progressed up the ranks through 9 second Modified Bikes, 8 second Competition Bikes and ultimately up to the professional Pro Stock Bike.

This expertise lead Cochrane to the opportunity of being able to debut the Brett Stevens Racing prepared S&S Powered Pro Stock Buell when it was unveiled in Australia for the first time at the 2006 Bike Fest at WSID, where on only its third pass on Australian soil he ran a sub National Record time (at the time) of 7.29 seconds.

Following this, the S&S bikes riding duties were taken over by Dion Prowse for the 2006/2007 ANDRA season and the results continued where Cochrane left off as Prowse went through the entire Championship undefeated in the first season for both rider and machine, winning the National Title in the process.

With Prowse putting on hold any plans to continue Drag Racing professionally, Cochrane's unrivalled knowledge and skills has seen him be named as the official team rider of the S&S Powered Buell for the 2007/2008 Australian Championship.

"Pete (Cochrane) has been involved with the Brett Stevens Racing for approximately 18 months as a test and development rider for both the S&S Powered Pro Stock Buell and also the S&S/Brett Stevens signature 124 cube Buell," Stevens said.

"With his extensive riding experience, skills and dedication I am happy to announce that he will now be stepping up to be the full time rider of the teams Pro Stock Bike."

"After a perfect debut season last year where we went the entire Championship undefeated he has big shoes to fill, but I have every confidence in him that he will be able to get the job done for us and even increase the performances of the machine."

Cochrane is equally excited about being appointed in the full time riding role.

"This is an unbelievable opportunity for me and I would really like to thank Brett Stevens and S&S for giving me this chance to ride what is arguably the best Pro Stock Bike in the world," Cochrane said.

"I can't wait to get out there on track and I will be doing all I can to carry on where the team left of last year and hopefully reward them with another Championship."

This news first officially broke to the public on the team's new website, which marks a dramatic improvement in appearance, navigability, and usability. With a new look and feel it is better suited for engaging fans with more information and opportunities to enjoy the content, and new possibilities to interact and add to the site.

One of the major new features that can be accessed via the site is the official Brett Stevens Racing Fan Club, 'CLUB BOSS', which offers fans the chance to be the first to receive up to date and breaking team news, Brett Stevens Racing merchandise and memorabilia specials, and promotional products.

The team will next be hitting the track for the season opening East Coast Nationals at the Western Sydney International Dragway from the August 31 to September 1, 2007.
