Rookie Card for sale

I am selling one of my Barry Bonds rookie cards to the highest bidder. I bought the card when I was in High School.

I, for one, do not believe that Barry took steroids at any point in his career and believe he will be in the Hall of Fame someday.

Below is a copy of the card.
You my friend are just a little blind to facts, not the facts that MLB are stating but, if you look at that rookie card, you will notice quite a bit of change in the man's appearance. He is and always will be the man with *755 home runs and Hank Aaron will always be king...Sorry Matt just stating my feelings. What I could really say about the whole *755 home run thing is WHO CARES...

I could care less about enhanced drugs someone takes for performance....
He still had to show-up healthy, put the bat on the ball and do his job...
Barry @ 43 years of age is doing great..He is in better shape than most 30 year old males..
He has never tested positive for anything...
Look @ Mark McGuire (sp ck) taking the 5th when asked in front of Congress about if he had used steroids...Mark McGuire and Bonds have had very similiar
careers....

You could care less? Given your other statements, I don't think so.

I guess you didn't get the jest of that post.

I lost all respect for pro athletes when they started going out on strike
because 17 million a year wasn't enough! Doping just made it worse.

At least prior to the the mid 70's, they didn't play ball for the pay check, but for the love of the game!

It HAS been proven that Barry took steroids. He admitted it in a court of law. Does anyone remember the "clear" and the "cream"? He admitted to using them but said that he didn't know that they contained steroids, which they did. However, steroids were not against the rules at the time. Some folks need to stop drinking the Kool-Aid and smell the coffee!

A grand jury is not a court of law. If they had anything he would be in jail, they don't and he isn't. Did you test the clear and cream? Nothing has been proven. At least with O.J. they had enough to go into court. Some folks need to drink the coffee and wake up.

Hey, it's a free country. You can think whatever you want. BTW, I meant to say Grand Jury testimony. I'm just wondering why my head didn't grow three sizes in my mid-30s. LOL.

Sorry for the misread, I agree with you on this, thus the reason why Hank Aaron is and always will be Home Run King...

IMO Bonds HR record will not be accepted by a small % due to his color and he tells you how it is...
Alot of people dis-like someone if they go against the grain....
Like here on the mater....most agree w/ everyone else and if someone speaks their mind then most everyone jumps all over them...Which I do not mind,,
I like the outspoken and the ones who think outside the box....
Cause when a thread is full of 'dittos' it makes for boring material..
just my take...

should I even point out that Bonds is the same color as Aaron, thus negating that arguement........

I could care less that he's a smuck, he cheated to get where he is. He knew he didn't not have the ability to make it to this level on his own and had to use extra help to do so. Same with the rest of the steriod clowns. Jose, Mark, Sosa, Palmero...........

Are you old enough to remember Ali-Frazier? They were both black and treated entirely different mostly along racial lines. Do you think only the hitters were juiced? Face it, it was the steroid era and there is not much that can be done about it now. MLB is to blame for this fiasco. They had to have the "home run derby" to bring back the fans after the strike and it worked. Not all pro atheletes make 17 million as someone else stated. They don't always strike for more money. The owners were just as guilty of greed as any of the unions. Did you know the average pro football player's career is less than 4 years. In that time, many are injured enough to need assistance the rest of their lives. And, they don't even have guaranteed contracts. They should get all they can when they can. And, as far as Bonds is concerned, he was headed to the Hall of Fame before the steroid use became a question.

And don't forget the corked bats ;)

nope too young to have been around during the Ali/Fraizer days.

You are correct in that the players union and MLB also share in the blame in this black spot in the history of baseball. I also agree that Bonds was on his way to the hall before the roids. I don't believe that absolves him from any guilt though. He is the one who hung around to break the record bringing even further attention to the steroid era.

Now that this new home run record is in the books, what does everyone think of the new "Transformers" movie?

Maybe I'm the only one who sees the correlation?

Bobby,

I understand what you are saying...LOL....
But Barry still had to have the skill to put the bat on the ball...
Just my take.

and the skill to inject that needle the right way and the skill to make sure to rub the cream on clockwise and the clear on counterclockwise....

You know, it suprises me; not a lot of talk about the pitchers here. Yeah, Rocket was mentioned, but the bottom line is that although Aaron, The Babe, etc. were great power hitters, they weren't hitting upper-90 to triple-digit heat day in and day out, much less some of the junk the guys of this era can throw. Do you think the pitchers of today naturally "evolved" to the physical level required to throw this kind of smoke or junk? I highly doubt it. But because there isn't some major pitching record at stake that garners the level of attention of the home run record, these guys can slip under the radar much more easily.

Understand, I believe Bonds juiced and I don't condone it in any way shape or form. But whether you like it or not, the measures he took to perform at the level he does is absolutely commensurate with the measures these pitchers have taken to perform at the level they do.

Bonds doesn't deserve to be singled out any more than all of the folks that have ever had a hand in running the sport for the past 25 years. Hell, you can't even single out MLB, because truth to be known, all professional level sports are saturated with this stuff.

I had just arrived home from the Detroit Tigers came flipped on the tv and went to grab a snack. As luck would have it it was on espn and they had either gone live to Bonds or were already covering the game. Just as I sat down I saw the "record breaking" homer. I felt cheated. This is one of those big where were you moments in sports history and it was now meaningless.

Bonds is the face of steroids and will forever be linked. Should others be there as well, of course.
