I was just cruising by and witnessed Barry hitting 755..Selig was in the stands and didn't even clap..LOL. He was asking his helpers if there was somewhere he needed to do for some celebration..nah..that'd be the next one.

Bonds has had to be the most tested man..along with Lance..on the planet..and nothing ever positive came up. I believe that Barry could have accomplished this without any chemical. He was a stud from the beginning. The most evidence I've read..I am HIGHLIGHTING READ..was that his helmet and shoe size increased.

That's not cool. The substances don't increase your pure athletic ability..which he had plenty. This just dampens sports..and his attitude all along has been one of an elitist.

Some of what he may have done wasn't illegal at the time..or they didn't have testing for it..which is baseball's fault. I hate it..Marion Jones..1st test positive..2nd test came back negative. Talk about Roger Clemens and what he has done at his age. Media doesn't help when it's a witch-hunt.

I'm waiting for Suzie to chime in about SHRINKAGE..hehe

I would rather see an educated dialog about this..

the head and shoe size increasing is do to human growth hormones also on top of the steroids. lets just hope a-rod passes him soon. go away barry.

I'm not sure I agree with you about Barry being the most tested individual on the planet, David. For a long, long time when the issue of steroids really started making the front page headlines, the MLBPA protected it's players by enforcing a "no test" policy - which just goes to show you how ignorant we are in this country... steroids are illegal in the United States, yet we allow the Player's Association to protect it's members from being tested for it!

But back to my point, when Barry Bonds (and Sammy Sosa, for that matter) entered the league they weren't much bigger than I am (I'm 6'3", about 170 lbs.). Look at him today... and oh by the way, it happened seemingly overnight. I ain't buyin' it, not for a second. And add his pompous ass attitude to it and I've got no use for the man, nor what he represents.

Lastly, and this is simply one man's opinion... Shawn Merriman was suspended for a number of NFL games last year for using a 'performance enhancing substance." Yet, our society of football fans made him one of, if not the top vote getters to the Pro Bowl! We had an opportunity to send a message that we weren't going to tollerate this BS anymore, and what did we do? That's not the NFL's fault - they punished him when they suspended him. The American public could have made it VERY clear they weren't happy and they (we) didn't.

So apparently I'm in the minority, but I simply don't like steroids nor what they represent. Sure, a man (or woman) has to have talent to play at the proessional level, and 'roids don't provide that, but they enhance performance and create an unfair advantage over the talented players who choose to rely solely on that talent.

Barry Balco will always be the Posterchild for the "Steroid era". I think most baseball fans would have more respect for him if he'd just admit he's been juiced for the last 7-8 years. I'll always think of him as a fraud who stole Aaron's record.

I dont think Barroid should have the record. I know he's never tested positive and alot of others who used them never tested positive either. Personally I think the MLB is just as responsible b/c they knew it was going on and widespread yet they did nothing to prevent it b/c baseball was popular again. And if someone honestly 100% believes that Barroid didnt take steroids or some kind of performance enhancing drugs, then I have swamp land in Arizona for sale.

And to me, Barry and Hank Aaron were great players, but the ALL TIME HOME RUN KING AND HE WILL FOREVER BE IS, THE BABE. No one else is even close and I will even say that if Arod hits 800 or more. The man was unbelievable. Just think what he could have done if he actually tried and got away from all the booze, women, and his lifestyle.

great post justin! by the way as drag racing fans, is anyone like me and laughs whenever they mention greg anderson ( balco greg anderson , not the pro stock champ :) ) and his involevement with steriods and bonds.

Barry is one of the few baseball players that has gotten better w/ age...How many of us can say/do that....He will be the home run king and deserves the credit...
How can you compare Babe Ruth to todays super superstars....When Babe Ruth played the players were the average 'joe' type...Back in Ruths' day some players had day jobs and played @ night...Most pitchers back in those days would not even make it to the minors today...
If Barry Bonds was around when Babe played we probably would not even know who Ruth is...
Just my take....

You have no proof that Bonds is dirty, just like you have no proof that Aaron or Ruth were clean. If MLB or the goverment had anything at all it would have been out by now to keep Bonds from going for the record.
Perry (doctored balls) and Sosa (corked bat) have been proven. Where is the outrage? None, because people like them. Cobb and Williams both mean and nasty. Time has made people forget and now you only here how great they were on the field.
If he did or didn't he is still the best ball player any one of you have ever seen up to this point. The jury is still out on A-Rod.

Selig should be removed on his bias for the Brewers and Aaron alone.

Do you honestly 100% believe that Barry is clean??? Really???

Barry is a 100% First Class Racist Jerk. No one can argue with that. Sure he's a great ballplayer, even before all the "allegations." But without the help he's had in the last 5 years or so he wouldnt be the all time home run king. And I am even one who says just because you take steroids doesnt mean you will be awesome, you still have to know how to hit a ball and Barry does. Barry will never be the home run king to me.

And my opinion doesnt have anything to do with him being a jerk. Pete Rose is a jerk and his character isint very good, however b/c of his on field accomplishments I feel he should be in the HOF. Barry I dont think should be given the record. However, MLB overlooked all of it for the last decade or so that its been going on and they are at fault as well and b/c of that they are going to have to "taint" the record books.

As for Sosa, I have never liked him and always thought he was overrated. There was no doubt he had help. He went from an average player to a superstar overnight. I know people in Chicago will debate that, but thats my opinion.

As for Aaron, I cant stand him either but he did have to put up with alot of adversity and I respect him for that. I met him, have a baseball signed by him, and I still dont like him. He's still a great player and deserves his title.

As for Babe, Terry your probably right about the overall players. And John, your right he was loaded every game. Full of hotdogs, beer, and the night before's hangover. He pitched, played infield, played outfield. And he was actually a good pitcher too. When you think of baseball, Babe should be the first person who comes to your mind.

As for Barry being the best player that any of us have watched, I disagree. I have seen him several times over the last 15 years but he wont be the ones I tell my kids I saw play. That will belong to 2 special guys who are unbelievable: Nolan Ryan and Roger Clemens.

Well, there has been speculation that Roger had help..but that doesn't matter because you like him?

There is speculation, and I do like Roger. To be completely honest, if Roger were to be proven to have used it wouldnt surprise me, but I wouldnt hold him near and dear like I do now for sure. Do I think he used steriods? No. Did he use something? Probably. A ex-big leaguer I played golf with last year told me that almost EVERYONE does something. But in Rog's defense, I will say this about his conditioning. He works out harder than anyone.

Rookie Card for sale

I am selling one of my Barry Bonds rookie cards to the highest bidder. I bought the card when I was in High School.

I, for one, do not believe that Barry took steroids at any point in his career and believe he will be in the Hall of Fame someday.

Below is a copy of the card.

As a lifelong Giants fan, I can't wait for all this crap to be overwith.

I don't care for the guy, it's plain as day as to what's happened.
There needs to be an asterisk next to the number now.

Anyways, just want to enjoy a ball game-last place or not.

Barry Bonds is has made a mockery of the sport. He will not be remembered as the hom run champ but as a steroid popping user who cheated his way to the top.

I love how people try to defend him it just blows me away. Lets dissect a few of the standard points.

Sure steriods were not technically against baseball's rules at the time, granted they are against the law of the country but why let that stop anything. I don't believe the NFL has any rules regarding animal cruelty in their rules so why all the fuss over Micheal Vick.

its true if we pump some 400lb yuts who sits on his couch all day long that guy is not going to all of a sudden be able to crash 70 homes a year, run a 9.7 100m dash and high jump 8 feet. You have to be in shape and atheltic to begin with. Bonds early career shows a very gifted player. He would have ended up with 500+ homers and been a sure fire hall of famer on his own merit. Now take that guy and add steroids and well now we've seen what effect that will have on his numbers.

The old "he never failed a drug test" How do we know? baseball does not release who or when someone has been tested. Is it in their best interest to not have Bonds get busted, good or bad, he has brought a ton of attention to mlb this season. With products like the whizinator and such the test are beatable. Also lets not forget Chris Benoit was also clean and had recently passed his steroid test. Money talks folks. Bonds is worth money to a whole lotta people, why bust him when he's still a cash cow.

Also those who support him do so by ignoring everyhting else. Sure the head size is an obvious deal but who knows maybe its some pituitary gland thing . The numerous reports of his use of 20 pills a day plus injections, the book which took a couple of years to research, his mistrress saying he did, the entire balco deal. How is it that everyone else at balco used but we can beleiev that Barry didn't?!?!?! IF someone writes a book claiming all these things that wouldn't Barry sued for libel or defimation of character.

Simply look at his career numbers.
In his first 13 years he averages 32 homes runs and a .290 batting avg
at at 34 and since he has averages a crazy 49 homers and .329 avg

In his 20's, generally a players peak years, he never hit more then 46 homers, now he averages more than that.

Support him if you must but please, please don't insult people's intelligence by claiming he has never used.

I wish Griffey hadn't lost a few seasons to injury otherwise he'd be chasing the record. I'm not an A-rod fan but anyone will be better then Bonds, the disgrace fo the game, having the record

#1. Do you honestly 100% believe that Barry is clean??? Really???

#2. He pitched, played infield, played outfield. And he was actually a good pitcher too. When you think of baseball, Babe should be the first person who comes to your mind.

#3. As for Barry being the best player that any of us have watched, I disagree. I have seen him several times over the last 15 years but he wont be the ones I tell my kids I saw play. That will belong to 2 special guys who are unbelievable: Nolan Ryan and Roger Clemens.

#1. No, never did. I don't think Ruth or Aaron were either.

#2. 100% right.

#3. A pitcher that only plays every 4TH. and now every 5TH. day and can't hit could be the best pitcher but never the best ball player.

Pete Rose is a jerk and his character isint very good, however b/c of his on field accomplishments I feel he should be in the HOF.

I agree with you 100% Justin that Pete Rose should be in the HOF for his on field accomplishments.

I can remember going on field trips in school to Cincinnati to see the Big Red Machine!! Loved Johnny Bench & Pete Rose!!!

I also don't think that there should be an * after Bond's numbers but I do think a bright red "S" would be good, either that or a syringe

I'm in no way endorsing Bonds..I believe he's guilty of chemical enhancement.

But..who's to blame for this mess? And if he is guilty..why is he being allowed to play?

Players Union? No backbone from the league..who propagated this shit in the 90's?

He shouldn't be allowed to continue if he's guilty, eh?
