Bobby Schmidt

Houston area former Top Fuel driver Bobby Schmidt lost his battle with lung cancer last Thursday. Although not invloved in drag racing for several years there are still some fond memories of his driving abilities. God Speed Bobby, you will be missed.

Hey Gary, I recognize that car in the picture that Bobby is racing!!!
Bubba thinks it was at LaPlace (?) in 1979, is he close???

Yep, it is LaPlace but I know Bubba has a better memory for knowing the year then I do. But, I would guess it is probably 78, I know 77 seems a little early. I know the 79 paint job was blue & silver because I painted it (almost positive) at the end of 79 and I was a senior in high school. I have 2 or 3 more photos on the web somewhere of us and Bobby, plus a box full of other pictures I have never scanned.
