Bob Gilbertson's return

I hope you were directing at my post as it was not intended to be snarky about BB or BG just the usual how long it takes for old story lines to come up when certain people are mentioned.

PJ, I was not directing this at you. But, apparently it woke up one of the people who appears to be judge and jury and totally self righteous about how people should represent themselves. You have been around long enough to remember those days and were just mentioning a fact, kinda like "Where's Skuza?"

I agree. Wasnt a van was a car and a scooter of course. Always had the best time hanging out with them. Bob's 50th birthday party at the Nugget was the bomb. I always found Berserko to be upstanding guy if he promised something it happened unlike a lot of others in this sport.

BB likes to drink. He's the first to admit it. Anyone on here that dislikes alcohol or doesn't imbibe? I didn't think so. BB likes to enjoy life, and I hope he still is as he was around when drag racing was a real grind, but cool as hell. I was there too, and I instantly took a liking to Jungle Jim and his team back in the mid-to-late 60's when I attended Beeline Dragway in AZ. It meant a lot to me that they would tow all the way out West from the East Coast and his PA roots to entertain us dirtballs in Phoenix. BB wasn't with him in the first year or two back then, nor was Jungle Pam, but that changed quite quickly. Berserko just got lucky and was asked to join the team for one of those West Coast trips and stayed with JJ thru at least a few more years during his glory days. I say that qualifies him to be part of the Legend group.

As for BB, he has always been straight up with me too, and I always have a great conversation with him anytime I find him at the track, as well as outside the track, like at the Gainesville Ale House during the Gators. He remembers me every time. I don't necessarily subscribe to his lifestyle, but it is what it is, and seems he has more friends than enemies.

Legend? Not hardly. At the track outside of Gilbertson's or Herbert's pits this legend is better known as the sponge, leach, or mostly as the drunk. He left Nitromater after being caught in lie after lie.

John, see post #22. It really should have been a response to this post.

Are you in the inner circle of the drag racing community going back 30-40 years?

I'm not the one that almost ran down a little kid, with a golf cart, in the pits because I was so drunk I didn't know what I was doing. The father pulled him out of the way at the last second. The kid was standing at the ropes.

I'm not the one that had a bunch of girls flashing me with kids under 12 standing there.

Sponsors are hard to find, the above cost the sponsor 2 customers.

So call me whatever you want. You have a bad case of blind hero worship.

Okay John, you win this argument. I wasn't there at either of those two spectacles and obviously you were. That was not Bob Gilbertson doing those stunts I'm sure so who we are really talking about is Beserko Bob, and I don't worship him. If what you say is true, and I'm not doubting you, then obviously BB was a serious danger in that instance and if he was behind the flashing, that is not something to be proud of either. You've made your point. Lets move on everyone.

Mods, or Todd Bade who started the thread....how 'bout we just close this thread before it gets out of hand.

You are right, time to move on, and Bob Gilbertson is one of the good guys.

Didn't he have a Bad event with a rent a car in the LVMS parking lot, that LVMS told him to never return???

every sport has its (highlights or lowlights) characters (even golf), there is no reason for a lockdown.
It adds spice to the usual ass kissing that goes on this board.

When I was 12 I bet that would have been the highlight of my life up to that point. I bet any 12 year old boy would feel the same.

But, it probably was not just 12 year old boys witnessing this. Kids do not need to be exposed to public displays of nudity no matter what. The younger generation has no morals or values as it is, no need to expose them to it at such a young age. Besides, NHRA is suppose to be a family sport so there is no reason that should be going on anyway.

Nudity is the norm in many European countries and their kids seem to be as well, if not better adjusted than many in this country. Nudity isn't the problem, poor parenting is.

I'll even add to that the fact that kids are learning and seeing more than a pair of breasts in school.

Also I consider Berserko a friend, not always right in the head but still a friend. And I am sure he is loving the attention you guys and girls are giving him without him even having to be here.

Got an email from him a few weeks back doing great retired in Florida
