What pathetic TV coverage, switching in the middle of the race to a different channel! I was not at home and had the DVR set, started watching the NHRA late last night and all of a sudden they come back from a commercial and NASCAR is on. Unbelievable!

Again,NHRA pays to be on ESPN and ESPN pays NASCAR to be on TV. Not a very hard concept to understand when economics are involved. We have to face the fact that NHRA is second to even girls softball. We don't have to like it but who's fault is it the drag racing isn't a big draw on TV? I applaud NHRA for getting TV exposure and I wish it was even bigger but it is what it is.

I don't get ESPNews myself, so I watched online at ESPN3, worked out ok, was able to jump the parts I didn't want to see.

Ya know they may be onto something here.

They could do a scavenger hunt. Use twitter and make it a marketing blitz.

After every commercial break the coverage jumps to a new channel. Maybe you have it, maybe not. First person that finds the channel and tweets it...along with some marketing name of course, wins a prize.

Start on ESPN2, then all of a sudden it goes to MTV or the weather channel. What better way to wake up people than to have nitro blaring on C-Span. Imagine antique roadshow being interrupted by a John Force interview. Can you see Clay Millican on Telemundo or Doug Kalita on BET? Who else has the Ocho?

We could get some company to sponsor it.....maybe a washing machine call it the #NHRAMaytagSpinCycle or #NHRAProzacMoments make it the NHRA version of Where's Waldo.

Who doesn't love a scavenger hunt? Folks this could be the break we need to go big time. Who's with me????

I usually watch the originally aired show without checking the results first. That way I can watch it and not know the outcome. Now that I already know the results after checking on Summitracing.com Sunday night when the show was cut, reairing is a waste of time.

Originally scheduled for a green flag shortly after 2 p.m. ET, the race was more than an hour late starting due to rain. It started at 3:15 p.m. and ran live on ESPN until 4:44 p.m. before being halted for more rain. The live portion on ESPN earned a 2.4 U.S. rating, averaging 3,623,308 viewers. After being delayed for more than five hours, the race resumed at 9:55 p.m. and aired on ESPN2 until its conclusion just past midnight. The ESPN2 portion of the race was seen by an average of 2,067,873 viewers with a 1.3 U.S. household rating. Last year's Chicagoland Speedway, which was run and telecast as scheduled, earned a 2.6 U.S. rating, averaging 3,948,966 viewers.

Needless to say, round 1 of Pro Stock Motorcycle just before the network change probably got the most viewership it ever has thanks to NASCAR fans tuning in early.

I seldom watch at all. If it is a reasonable hour I watch until I get tired of the time it takes and just jump on here. ESPN 3 also does the trick far better anyway if I am home to catch it.

that is the understatement of the year. thank you for posting this information.
a nascar race starts late, is halted by rain for 5+ hours, then resumes later in evening and still pulls
a TV audience over twice what nhra averages per race (assuming nhra still pulls about a .5 rating).
nhra mite have beachfront property for sale, but it isn't sandy.
