Bandimere Speedway Question

I have never been to the track to watch a race, but was in Denver the past couple of days and drove past there yesterday when I was headed to Golden. I was shocked to see the number of houses litterally across the highway from the track, has it been that way for a long time? Growing up in NJ and knowing the headaches neighbors can bring, if these people are new, I can see potential problems if people don't like the noise.

The development on the hill to the northeast began building about 10 years ago. Outside of a few big events the noise isn’t too bad from what I’m told. I have a friend who lives a few miles to the east and the noise has never really bothered him or his neighbors. They do have a soft curfew where they will not start any round of racing in any class after midnight. Now with them building homes directly east on the other side of the highway I worry that the noise could be a bigger issue. I do know the track had support from the county for many years but I worry that last years fiasco with COVID could have hurt their standing with the community. I’m sure at some point the pressure will be too much or even the value of the land will to hard to pass up.

I would hate to see that track go. Such a beautiful place. I went there once years ago & it is unique to drag racing.

My daughter was living fairly close to the track in Lakewood. Noise was never an issue. She's up in Arvada now.

Attending a race at Bandimere should be on everybody’s bucket list.
It’s a great facility and the staff is second to none.

that is some forward thinking. i wonder if the bandimeres had the foresite to realize this and prompt the county/builders to include this waiver?

I did some research on the development built on the hill to the east of Bandimere called Soltera. You are correct about the noise issue. I was chatting with Sporty this past summer and mentioned the new development directly across 470 from the track (South of Solterra) and his comment was "we have a pretty good relationship with local government". He didn't seem worried but I would guess it's always on their mind as things can change fast.

I have friends that live on the West side of Solterra closest to the track. They say the noise is fairly prominent in the summer if they are outside but they are race fans and it doesn't bother them. Hopefully properly warning new buyers like Solterra does will keep a majority of the NIMBY's out.

The Covid challenges were with Jeffco Public Health, hopefully that doesn't influence other agencies.
