Assisted Throttles in Nitro Classes-Are Drivers Obsolete??

Just playing Devil's advocate here.
This sounds kind of like a throttle stop on the burnout. Trying to keep from over revving the engine and blowing it up.

Alan
Clay hasn't used one of those in "A little while" has he Alan?
Langdon is right IMO.

To quote the late great Bill "grumpy" Jenkins in a 1973 Time article said "A monkey can drive one of these things down a straight track" He said it in reference to the lenco 4 speed entering P/S. WJ repeated it somewhat in 2008 when he said "I could train a monkey to drive the car. I still enjoy the development side".

My .02 is the crew and crew chief set up the car, it's the drivers job to get it down track. Throttle stops on a burn out and the new throttle anti WOT pedal device are both crutches, make the drivers earn their keep. next someone with big dollars will want to make an autonomous t/f or f/c claiming its a safety factor to keep the driver from running over the timing blocks or hitting the wall.

Interestingly, wasn't it very recently that Tony Stewart conceded that driving a PS car was more difficult than he thought? Coming from a former NASCAR driver I thought that was a unique take on it.

I think its time for a new engine package in the fuel classes. Thinking long term survival and quarter mile racing, this cannot continue. Blower size fuel pump size and dual mags. They all need to be reduced. The costs are unsustainable. We only have 8 or so teams that can run for the season championships. I'd rather change the combo than lose fuel racing. I remember the 70s when racers MADE money!

Ok, so maybe a monkey can be trained to drive one of these cars, but i'd like to see someone try and teach him how to cut .000 - .020 lights :p which is a requirement in PS
