When I say she is a good driver, I'm talkin' about her driving in round 2 qualifying, and it had nothing to do with RT. She did a great job controlling that car!!!!!!! I don't care what some of you clutch guys say!!!!!!!!!!!:D;):p

Lynn, put your JFR kool aid down for a second and listen.

Know one said she is a bad driver. She has proved she is more than capable of driving these cars..she is doing ok, but she is still learning. There is nothing wrong with "still learning."...Matt Hagen is doing a ok job, but is still learning...Daniel Wilkerson is doing an ok job, but is still learning.

If you want to think Ashley Force Hood is the greatest funny car driver ever, then do so. You just need to realize that type of thinking just isn't accurate.

lynn i agree with you, tony will find something negative to say about any force post. or almost any post in general, we never said shes the greatest ever, but i think shes doing a heck of a job! nice save, i hope the points leader wins it today! go ashley.

Thanks for the back up on that Jeff. I think Tony enjoys pushing my Force buttons!!!!!:p Your right, I never said she was the greatest FC driver ever. That honor goes to DADDY!!!!!!!! I was just trying to point out how well she handles that car in a bad situation. I know she is still learning, but considering how far she has come I think she deserves some praise!!!!!:D

I thought the greatest drivers don't get into trouble. Not sayin shes bad (still young, not her fault), but take Del's last qualifying run (I think it was) - was out of the throttle at the first hint of smoke. Im always amazed at how fast the great drivers are out of the throttle at the first sign of trouble. It happens so fast you don't even know why they got out of it till the slow motion replay, then you see the tiniest whisp of smoke after the shutoff.

Or that one run way back when when Ashley hit the wall while going 360 on a tire smoking elimination run - Kenny Bernstein was in the other lane... I think they started smoking the tires at the same time, but KB got out of it, rolled back in it and got to the finish under power. (not sayin Ashley is a bad driver, but it took KB how many years to be able to do that)

Summary, Ashley is not the best driver, but she has the potential to be with all the runs shes going to be making in her future. She is still learning.

As I'm sure you have at one point!!!!!!!!!! Even though I can't think of a time when Force did "suck"!:p

Several NHRA officials went to series founder Wally Parks trying to keep the inexperienced Force off the racetrack, out of the fear of his safety and the safety of the other drivers.

Doesn't get much better at page 24. LOL

"He was the worst driver in the history of the sport" Sutton says about Force, "I, on numerous occasions went to the NHRA to get him banned because I was afraid he'd kill himself. He hit everything but the tower. The NHRA would give him notice that he was on probation. "

She said on TV that that's the first time she had to handle an entire left side with all cylinders out!

I could not believe that but replayed it back and sure enough, the right side has full flames and the left side is entirely out as she begins the first violent left turn.

If she can get crossed up without hitting any boundaries I say GO FOR IT, ASHLEY!

I found the driving impressive and Ashley's post run analysis and critique was also very impressive. She's becoming a very mature nitro driver with some pretty good judgment.

Fact is, although I am too lazy to look it up, JF was "always a bridesmaid never the bride" for several seasons until he broke through.

And even after that one of his more bizarre accidents, rolling the car well before half track I think, was actually celebrated in one of his commercials (for fram oil filters?). NOT taking any shots at JF just noting, no one is perfect especially when herding 6-8,000 horse power.
