My of my buddies who is an acomplished heritage NE1 driver, brought up the point that parachutes are not SFI certified. I just looked at my little chute on my bracket dragster and he is right.

Why aren't chutes held to the same rigorous certification as racing belts? I am thinking the stress at the point of attachment must be huge.

Doesnt matter if chutes are SFI cert'd or not if we cant keep the damn things on the cars.

I've never heard of a parachute failing at the attaching point. Once again those that know the least say the most.

RG are the Chute packs attached to the Rear end housings on Dragsters as they are FC's?? When Alexis's failed at E-Town last year it blew the back of the Rear end housing out.

DeJoria had a fabricated steel housing. The welded tabs pulled off the back of the housing and tore the housing open allowing rear end oil to spew. NHRA changed the spec for chute mounts after her episode.

Our 10.5" Chrisman has provision for two large bolts under it for anti rotation. Our chute mounts bolt to the rear end at that point and they bolt to the frame on both sides where it attaches to the K-member under the rear end. You could probably attach a trailer hitch to it and be fine. Since Niver builds his own stuff I'm not sure what he had. From what I understand, the tubing that had the chute mounts attached to it may have failed.
