Hey Double B... I watched it on Tivo tuesday. It wasn't what I thought it would be. It was a show about a propter who put on a show in Chi-Town. a lot of new-nostalgia cars. Cool, but I was hoping for olf footage. It would be a fun show to go see if you are in or near Chicago.

I dvd'd it also since it was on at 3:30 in the afternoon here. Thought it was great! Some neat cars also--and a little excitement as the top of the Dunn & Gone flopper departed in the lights....the thing I noticed most was the enthusiasm and excitement of the participants in interviews--they actually talked about the run and the car and the team instead of the rote litany of sponsors we have come to know and love. Kept looking for Mike Minick, but maybe the event took place while he was in the clutches of Mickey Mouse? Good stuff--I really want to get to one of those events sometime

I was at that show. It was awesome. Tightly run, no down time, and all of the cars made it down the track. It was run at Route 66.

so no old classic footage, just modern era nostalgia?

That's correct, no classic footage... The promoter seemed to really have his stuff together, had a wicked quick aa/fa and was well spoken. It is cool that Lucas Oil supports these types of events with their show.

That was the 2007 Match Race Mania at Rt 66. The promoter was Rick Krafft who is a long time TAFC racer and now drives the Chicago Fire AA/FA of Mike Faser.
That was a great show.

this event was filmed at Rt 66 in May of 2007...about a year before i was at the mercy of the Mouse.....instead i was in the clutches of my evil employer in downtown Chicago.....if it was this years event you woulda been able to find me!!! you prolly saw my brother Dan though

and they interviewed some guy named Pat Minick.....didn't he have something to do with drag racing at some time?:D Were you with the Chi Town Hustler at this year's event?

the chi-town hustler that was at that event has since been sold....it was time...that was the original '71 chassis and it prolly had somewhere in the neighborhood of 2000 runs on it....it was time for it to be a museum piece and thats what it is now....The driver/owner of that car at the time (Troy Martin) is in the process of building a new car that hopefully will be ready by next year.....this year i have been touring with Kyle Wurtzel and the Motown Shaker
