Anyone been on an Alaska cruise? (1 Viewer)

We just returned from our first cruise - 4 days to Bahamas. I opted for a short one for the first trip, just in case we didn't like it. We were wrong and would've loved to stay longer.

Had to fight hubby on this one since he wanted to do the Alaskan cruise. I won that battle but I want to start planning the next one for him - to Alaska.

Any recommendations?? Cruise line?? Summer vs Fall??

The only Cruise I've been on was in 1990, and it was to Nassau, Bahamas. Went to Coral world, Spent a lot of time at Paradise Island casino. Got the WORST Sunburn of my life that weekend! The only drawback? Alls you do is Eat and Party, I bet I gained 10 lbs. in those 4 days!

We also saw Grizzlies fishing the streams running into the inner passage, but you will need a hell of a zoom lens for the pics to come out well(ask a resident camera expert such as Joe Sherwood for recommendations). My digi has a built in 10x zoom and it was not adequate.

Chris, I have a 50m-500m Sigma which is called the "Bigma" for obvious reasons. Since most Digital SLR's like mine have that 1.15 lense factor, it actually focals out at 75m-750m! And I used it at Chicago on Friday, and although it's pretty heavy and a Major pain to lug around. It's very convienient in those Tele-photo landscapes. But one thing I have noticed as a hobby photog is, you can NEVER have enough Zoom! I don't care if you have 1000m, there will always be something just TOO far away to get that Shot your looking for.

Beautiful! Can't show them to DH or we will be going to Alaska next week!!

Only problem I have with that is we have to save the $$$ for a June '08 wedding for the oldest son. and the youngest is in the UK for the summer draining the bank account.
