Damn. Definitely bummer.
That makes sense. Rt 38 in NJ, which is not too far north of there, has a number of monster warehouses going up even tho it’s not super close to a highway interchange. Interchange locations seem to be already built-up. I think warehouse developers are now being forced to get creative with their locations and unfortunately Atco is in a “good-enough” location. It really sucks. It's not Copart or IAA, they're going to build warehouses on the property.
Hoping they move the event to another track....rumor has it they are asking aroundI guess so much for the divisional event the first weekend of August.
This is a bummer.
Route 73 is also nearby. That gives access to the Jersey shore, NJ Turnpike and 295.That makes sense. They were not the owners but leased those tracksThis is a sad. Atco is where I was introduced to drag racing. Back in the 1960s and 1970s, a classmate's father was one of the owners of Atco, Cecil County and Pittsburgh International. I spent a lot of time at that track, both as a kid and covering divisional events for Drag Race Central.
Who owned them? I know that Paul Jaffe was part of the group that opened Atco. I did not know someone else built the track first. They were not the owners but leased those tracks
P.I.D. was leased to group calling themselves Atco corp-.Cecil was leased by the same -partners would take their turn running the strips I believe Les Medvane ? ran pittsburghWho owned them?
