Alan Johnson is a genius ... but the $11 Meelyun Dollar deal posted in the "rumor section" on this site seems out of line. That would make Alan Johnson the highest paid crew chief IN THE WORLD. More than any Indycar/NASCAR/F1 crew chief ... seems improbable.

Don't get me wrong ... I am NOT saying he isn't worth it ... I am just saying it is unlikely he is getting it for a "fringe" motorsport like NHRA Drag Racing ....

Paul, I think I'm with you on this, we can make jokes like with Gary S. and so on but to get serious the reason these guys have this money to play with is because we are forced to pay $5.00 a gallon. Hopefully Alan will think seriously before doing this, it would be very hard to turn away millions but we do have our pride.

Bahrain would get A LOT more mielage (Public Relations, International understanding, etc.) by sponsoring a big bucks post-season race at that race facility they built for F-1 - rather than try to buy a team.
(Pay appearance money and get FedEx or DHL or Kalitta Air or whoever to fly all the "Countdown" teams to the middle east for a week long show in early December - Internatinal exposure for Sponsors, Drag Racing AND NHRA).

Who will ever be able to calculate the value of "Ping Pong Diplomacy"?
