I'm I the only one that sees the similarity here with AJ and Ray Evernham of NASCrap world. Looks like the same path. From genious crew chief to higher role. The brightest guy in the pits/garage going into a managerial position with hopes that the guys underneath him can perform the same magic he has. Or will Alan be making the calls on a car?? (I'm asking, I don't know).
do you mean Ray Evernham from the 'NASCAR' world?
.......the same Ray Evernham that enjoyed some time running a lamborghini
down the beautiful new Z-Maz drag strip.
yes, i see the similarities and there couldn't be two guys more deserving
in their respective motorsports.
crew chief selections do not surprise me either.
congratulations to both.
WWDD? Boy-i was asking myself that same question. So far, from just fan in the stands view, it has been as civil as can be expected. (well--there was that "adaquate employee" comment in the beginning) But now what? Win the championship + get him out of there Monday after Pomona? Get huffy+ take everyones notes + laptops now to not lose any secrets? Have a team meeting and ask whos going so you know who to start replacing? The tension level must be high at DSR right now- I admire the crews for getting their jobs done at the track.
Congrats to Brooks and McCulloch. As was said, these are two young tuner, with lots of their own experience. I would think AJ would be pretty close with both teams.
But, what do I know?

Well . . . Bobby was speculatin' that the driver may be Dixon -
Now that AJ has employees starting in two weeks he needs a place for them to do stuff. West Coast, Indy, Charlotte? Can't wait to see that palace! -
The plan is for Indy shops because most crew guys and families are there. He can rent from Dixon ,like so many others are doing. Then again ,maybe Snakes place would be available?
My point earlier in the thread is that Ray Evernham was once seen as the brightest crew chief in the garage with ABOVE AVERAGE equipment from Hendrick. If you follow NASCAR you can probably tell that Ray's teams today aren't up to par with his history of success as a crew chief.
If Alan Johnson is not a tuner and chooses to run teams (so to speak) I think the competition will be happy. Let's just say that.
Of course I"m saying this not knowing the full story and if Alan will tune a car.
