Good points Bob, however... WHO REALLY MAKES the decisions about who to sponsor?? The Owners of these companies? Not really. They reley on their "MARKETING PEOPLE" and "Business Investment people" and other Managers they have working for them to compile some info on these potential and currently sponsored people. It's their jobs to provide this info to the people who SIGN THE CHECKS. A rumor can and usually does provide bad press for all parties involved, including these Fortune 500 companies who invest millions into a professional drag racing team. I can tell you from my personal experience, I have seen a potential 7 figure deal killed due to the old saying..."Loose Lips sink ships!"
In today's market, it's not about investing $2-$3 million in a PERSON who will represent you well, and the sponsor Seeking you out, but how that $2-$3 million will turn into $20-$30 Million in extra sales. It's about investing money to make money. Yes, the person who is sponsored has to represent them well, but it's more about the R.O.I. Bob.
Rumors have been, and always will be more HARM than GOOD. What possible GOOD have rumors EVER done?
