JOLIET, Ill. (JUNE 5, 2008) Joliet-based transportation company A&R Transport will take the role as primary sponsor on Mike Ashley's Dodge Charger R/T nitro Funny Car and as Major Associate on Melanie Troxel's Charger this weekend for the Torco Race Fuels NHRA Route 66 Nationals. In addition, PneuTech - Pneumatic Tank Trailer and Parts Sales - joins the Gotham City Racing team as an associate sponsor on both cars this weekend.
A&R has been an associate sponsor for Gotham City Racing since the beginning of 2007, and company owner, Mike Bedeker, said he wanted to be sure both Team Gotham cars were competing in Joliet this weekend, so he stepped up to take title rights on Ashley's car for the weekend. Bedeker is also a principal in PneuTech.
"We're very excited that Mike's going to run his car this weekend with the A&R name on it, and we're more than happy to help the team," Bedeker said.
"We've really enjoyed our association with Mike and the team. They are all great people to work with, and we really appreciate the chance to call his car the 'Official A&R Transport car' this weekend," he said.
A&R Transport provides custom solutions for companies' bulk transportation, packaging, distribution and logistical needs. Through their proprietary analytical review process, they provide timely, cost effective solutions for the ever-changing global transportation market.
Ashley, Gotham City Racing co-owner along with Roger Burgess, said the relationship with A&R has been a great marriage since it started.
"Working with Mike Bedeker and guys like Darren Sackman is a real pleasure, and I'm humbled that they chose us to represent their company in the marketplace.
"Darren has been a part of what I've been doing since I started with the Worshams when I was just starting to drive a Funny Car. My company [Lend America] even helps sponsor Darren's sons - Matt and Zach - in their Jr. Dragsters, so the relationship we have is really deep.
"I think this is a great example of how sponsorships really work and grow. The relationship we started has turned into something that is a win-win-win, and that's what it's all about. The sponsors win, the team wins, and ultimately, the fans win," Ashley said.
"We had a chance to bring the cars out to their facility earlier in the week, and I know it was a big deal for all of the folks at A&R as well as PneuTech, and we really want to put on a good show for all of them this weekend," Ashley added.
