I have a mill that I bought in Indianapolis, if it were in Tucson I could use it. Anybody have any ideas about how I could get it here without just going to pick it up?

Alan

how big is it. I have contacts with a shipping company that may be able to help

Alan,
PM Ron Dunlap "Nitrohaulic" since I happen to know he's headed our way with other loads from the East to the West. I don't know if he's got any space for it but he'd be a great place to start.

Bobby I was fixing to say the same thing and tell Alan to see if Ron could help him out since I know he was headed this way.

Thanks guys, I sent Ron a PM.

PJ it's like a big drill press, I'm guessing it weighs 1000 or 1200 lbs.

Normally I only run to the northeast and back each week but we're waiting to see if a customer that we were hauling for through a third party is going to accept a bid to use us directly, so I'm looking at more "unusual" stuff.

I'm loading in Rhode Island on Thursday to unload 2,356 miles away in Salt Lake on Monday (which is kinda tight on time considering the weather this time of year). Then I reload in Salt Lake on Tuesday with some kind of trade show/exhibition stuff that won't unload in Houston until the following Monday, which gives me about three extra days on that run (they're paying well enough for it to sit on the trailer the extra time)

If it weren't for all the "ifs" I could drop down to Indy, then drop down and deliver it myself after Salt Lake on my way to Houston. I just don't know "if" there'd be room in the trailer, and "if" it could be moved around between the Salt Lake stops. Would have to go on the back of the load going out, then I'd have to already know that the SLC receiver would take it off and put it back on (most places wouldn't care, you know how some can be). The trade show/exhibition stuff would be tricky, because a lot of time that stuff's hand loaded and unloaded with ramps.

If the above mentioned customer ends up coming back, I've already got a funny car that I'm taking from CT to SC for someone. As long as the freight's paying for the trip and there's room, I never mind helping out someone who's drag racing related.

LOL, like I told Bobby, the load going out there would have me in Salt Lake on the 15th, which just happens to be the day that Mexico load is supposed to pick up! (and it's a total coincidence) Don't think I didn't think about it. :) I'm going to sit back and see if anyone else can succeed/surivive with that one first. :D

Ron,

It's not very nice-LOL. I have a nice one, but I need one do to some heavy work with, not precision stuff just hawging. That's why I bought this one, it is older and a little worn, but it will be perfect for my gouging work and the price was right. I thought I had the transportation covered, but it didn't work out so now I need some help.

Thanks,

Alan

Maybe a race team based in Indy that will be testing in Vegas and Phoenix could stick it in a corner of a hauler, and you could U-Haul it down from Phoenix.

Alan... I'll ask the production trucking company I use if they have anything deadheading or with space running East to West (they are out of Jersey..)..Is it crated up, or a tall loose piece?

BTW, did you see the bit on the 6 o'clock Channel 9 news today about some folks getting together down in Wilcox area trying to get approval and funding for a track down there near Safford? Pretty good 5 minute piece, with some non-pro shots from SIR... Are you going to the warm-up opening next week here in town?

Martin,

It's not crated or anything, but can be picked with a forklift pretty easy. And if it could get close, I would meet someone and grab it. I have hauled them in my Pick-up before, I'm just hoping not to have to go all the way to Indy. The machine is to tall to go in a race trailer, I also thought of that and made a couple of calls.

I will be at the Vegas test sessions, and the National Open. I'm not going to Phoenix. I didn't see the news item, but have heard a little about the project.

No luck on my end, Alan... Seems that with diesel the way it is $$-wise, all the shows that are out stuff the 53' to the gills (I just thought it was just that way on my cheap ass shows!! :) )... I'll keep my ears open tho... M
