The low profile tire and wheel combo are not really a low profile tire. It is a special tire and wheel combo. I think it is a 23" wheel if I remember correctly. For a while a few of the alcohol teams were testing them to eliminate tire shake with varying degrees of success. Trying to eliminate the mass of sidewall from the average tire. The last team I remember running them was Jason Rupert about four or five years ago. (And that was about three years after the rest of the teams quit the testing.) Quite a 'blast from the past' to see this set up back out on the track.

I remember in the late '90's Arley Langlo used a similar setup on his Zip Code top fuel car. Im not sure if he ever made a full run with the tires since he always seemed to blow up shortly after launching.
