in pro stock 4 wide staging, let's say if you have a performance disadvantage and have to resort to trickery. Seems to me if you immediately go in and double bulb everyone,
then as soon as one of the other three cars pre stages the counter begins and you also start a 7 second count in your head. There's a good chance that since you staged so early, time will expire before all of the other 3 cars are fully staged and someone will be timed out. you can have rpms raised and prepared to launch because the tree always activates at the 7 second mark if someone times out !!
Yep, there would be some initial strongly-worded statements for sure, and you would quickly become the pariah of the whole class. Which is fine if you’re someone who runs a competitive solo team (they don’t exist anymore). There would be a lot of butt hurt expressions directed your way, but eventually everybody would get used to it and start doing it themselves, and it would make the whole class a lot more exciting.

People could actually do this in all categories. It sure would be interesting.

didn't Matt Latino double bulb in round 2?

take 16 important nhra people at next 4wide in charlotte, (including bruton smith's kid), and run a side show street car eliminations bracket.
see how they manage. it would almost be worth the price of admission to see it.

I've never understood why whenever someone does something that rattles them they let the opponent know about it. This may sound like a dick move but if its eliminations and I know my opponent got pissed that someone double bulbed him or went deep on him, I would probably do the same thing and try and throw him off especially if I know that opponent were to have me covered. Of course its different in qualifying and obviously not allowed if its a class where courtesy staging or no deep staging is in effect.

spring fling, then the nationals, today first day of double d. that's a WHOLE lot of racing.
wonder how many are running all 3 events?

There

yes i forgot add, that should this method work, one would need to practice your right hook and jab before hand ! :p
Everyone is aware that double-bulbing is an egregious act on a par with poking someone else's wife but I never really understood why. The 7 second timer doesn't start anyway until you're at least prestaged. Take as long as you like to prestage - a full minute if you want to mess with the rascal who double bulbed you - and then you've got 7 seconds to final stage. Just have your revs up and your feet ready because the tree is going to fire soon as that happens.

Agreed! double bulbing seems to be a useless ploy when it's a normal head to head drag race, but things get a little hairy when it's 4 cars staging
